I went to a technical school for medical assisting before I knew anything about anything regards to health care-- and they asked me for my HS diploma or GED ......... and that was only a medical assisting degree that has no worth at all whatsoever because all the credits I got from there were useless!!!

But there are student's out there, that don't get accepted to the community colleges because it's just extremely competetive... I don't know how they pick the students for the schools!

MDC rejected me 5 times... and to me, I have made myself a really good RN, I'm a quick learner, and I do what's right........ and MDC never accepted me as an RN student........ while they accepted a friend of mine, who got a scholarship to baptist & totally quit on them a month into the program!!!!

desperate times comes to desperate measures-- that I'm sure, that if I had no other choice I would of probably gone to concorde, keiser, or city college, just so I could accompish my dreams of being an RN.

Broward Community College

(now called Broward College)

but I also got accepted to NSU in davie but failed one class, then got accepted to BCC and was successful there.

I also got accepted to Manatee Community College in bradenton, FL

I went and checked out Concorde in Miramar today. they have an ADN program. I speficially state that I am interested in the nursing program. He proceeds to try and convince me to go into the PCT or MA program first then "try" and get into the ADN program. I had previously spoken to him on the phone and expressed my desire for the ADN program. He even went so far to take me on a tour of the building pointing out the PCT classes and labs. I don't think he should try and steer me in another direction if that is not the program that I am interested in. I have already been accepted into an LPN program at another school but Concorde's ADN program is only 3 months longer. I already have a BS in another field and some of my credits will transfer. I am trying to decide if I should even bother with the school or maybe try to meet with another counselor. Any suggestions?

Wow! They do try to sell you into another program. I suppose they need to have a quota on the amount of students needed on each block for PCA or AM

If you have a BS in another field, have you thought about doing an accelerated program at MDC? it is only a year long for students with BS degrees. and the price is not so bad.

I'm sure with your BS you can handle the entrance exam and do well on it enough to get you into the program.

just my :twocents::twocents:

that would be better than going to a year of LPN school then another year and a half for the LPN-RN program.
