concerned about deadlines and holidays

Published

There are a few schools I'm applying to through nursing CAS. My last prereqs just ended mid-Dec, so the transcripts are just now being updated. A few of the schools have deadlines of Jan 5, Jan 15, and Feb 1. CAS website says to allow 4 weeks for them to receive it and update their system. Seriously? So if I initiate the request to my school, and my school sends them out, am I going to "miss" the deadline if CAS waits until mid-late Jan (or later) to update my application on their website? Not to mention that my school is "out of the office" until after the new year.

Nursing CAS is an online database that many nursing schools use for your application. It is a hub where you upload education history, resume, essays, letters of rec, etc. etc.

Ohh, thanks for explaining it.

In my experience, transcripts sometimes don't necessarily have to be there before the deadlines. That said, each school is different.

You can also get a rush on your transcripts. I did do a few of those for schools that needed them ASAP.

Another option is to send one before your grades post, and send another once they have posted. I've done that as well. Schools are generally understanding of how the whole grade posting thing goes, but it might be good to contact the departments if possible to double check and to explain the situation if somehow they don't get it. (Never assume- one of the schools I applied to couldn't figure out that people's last names sometimes change when they get married, and some of my transcripts were in my maiden name.)

I took a class at a cc this semester while at JMU. JMU required the application and easy for the nursing program be tuned in on 12/2 and transcripts 12/20. My cc transcripts were due two days after they were predicted to be posted. I let my school know and they made a note in my file. But I ended up picking a sealed copy up myself and turning them in by hand.
