I'm hoping to start LPN school in March. However, I'm worried about the cheap cost of the program. Even though I will be able to become licensed and sit for the state boards, the total cost is only $1,600, a fraction of what other similar programs cost. Should I be worried? When being hired as an LPN, how far does "school prestige" go? Would I be at a disadvantage or would my job choices be limited by doing such a cheap program?
Does anyone have experience with "economy" LPN school and job seeking? Would appreciate any advice!
I respect your opinions, but I would just like to say that I went to LPN school 15 years ago and it was the greatest experience. My instructors were supportive and a wealth of information. Over the years I have had the pleasure or lack thereof of working with many nurses both RN and LPN and on both ends some were great and some were complete baffoons!!! I understand your frustration with respect issues but as time goes on you prove yourself as a nurse, many times in my career I was put in the position of training new employees both RN and LPN. Ultimately I did go back for my RN and my BSN. My plan is to become an instructor for an LPN program and help those new nurses be the best they can be. I do not regret the path I chose for one minute, I learned a great deal and I am grateful.
