I also keep a small bottle of sanitizer on a clip attached to my nerd pack. Just in case.

Nursing Gear- Essentials
What do you have to have with you on a daily basis? For example: I have a little canvas pocket that goes in my scrubs pockets at clinicals and practicum that came with our nursing kit for nursing school, we call them our "nerd packs", generally I keep: a few pens a penlight hemostat bandage scissors index cards a safety pin and a roll of tape and I usually keep a small fat notebook in my scrubs pocket as well as a ton of alcohol swabs and a few pairs of gloves for when I inevitably go into a room that only has small gloves in it. What do you keep on you?

I needs some advice!!
I absolutely LOVE nursing school, and the people in my classes. A strong support group is very helpful

My chances for nursing school?
As an undergrad with a gpa of 2.1 and a lot of withdrawals you may have to look around closely for the program thats right for you. Nursing school is notoriously competitive, not only to get into, but also once you get in.

Age you will/were graduated?
If all goes as planned, I will be 27 when I graduate with my LPN, 28 with my RN, and 31ish? with my MSN. Got to love accelerated programs

WANTED: Nursing student tidbits of advice
Prioritize, if your program is anywhere as intense as mine you will have to make sacrifices to reach your goals.

WANTED: Nursing student tidbits of advice
Hmm, I recommend Highlighters, several bright ones in different colors, and then color code everything. I do yellow for the textbook, orange for key points in notes and then the remaining colors go in my calendar to make quizzes. tests, etc. I find it very helpful even though it's just a little thing. Also, you can never have too many index cards. Get em cheap at wal-mart its 44 cents per 100, and you'll find uses for them. I also use binder tabs to section off the chapters in my books, it makes it alot faster and easier to find pages if you can just flip to the chapter its in. Start a study group. First day of class I turned to everyone in the room and said that I was starting a study group. I would be in a certain place at a certain time and if anyone wanted to join me they were welcome, if not I'd be there anyways, and thats what I did. After the first quiz, the group grew. Networking is a major key to being a nursing student, and its never too early to start. Oh, and eventually you'll probably want a backpack on wheels. Most of my classmates sport them, Myself I use a regular backpack, and then a smaller messenger bag that I keep my essential notes in that I can take everywhere with me so that if I find a spare moment somewhere I can go over them. and you will need to study. Even if you were Straight A Valedictorian like I was, studying is still important, as my instructors point out, you better feel confident in what you've learned, and that you actually -understand- it because there isn't room for mistakes when people's lives hang in the balance. Enough of my rant.

does Brown Mackie include pharmacology in their LPN program?
So how did your first week of classes go? Do you like Mrs. Harbert?

does Brown Mackie include pharmacology in their LPN program?
I love it. You'll probably have Mrs. Harbert for PN1000. She's wonderful, I'll see you around I'm sure I'll only be a month ahead of you. Psychology and Microcomputers for me next month. Theres a lot of studying, and you absorb a large amount of information in a small amount of time so you have to keep on top of it. I suggest a study group. Even if you feel you don't need it for PN1000 you'll be surprised how much they help.

security clearance interview

Want to be a nurse, question about online progression (LPN to RN)
whoops just realized that I accidentally hit last page instead of the next page and have answered a question that's 5 years old. :sofahider

Want to be a nurse, question about online progression (LPN to RN)
From what I understand when you get your LPN to RN online you can do all the coursework online but have to do the clinicals in the town you live in. Whether or not that will be an option overseas I honestly have no idea. I'd google LPN to RN online courses and speak to an academic advisor to get answers straight from the source
