competencies

I had a competency that was due this month. I thought that I took it and even checked with my manager and she told me that I took it and that I was ok. Well, come to find out I did not take it and I heard that they want to fire the employees that did not take it. Apparently there are no more classes. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

One compentecy which can cause us to not be able to work until we complete it is CPR. Or worse still if we have failed to renew our licenses before the deadline. I am sure there might be more but those are the two which come to my mind immediately.

Even that the year I was going to late in renewal. I informed my educator and DON then I signed up for a renewal class which was two weeks after my date was up.

I realize by not getting my renewal for CPR in a timely manner I was placing them and myself in a potentially serious position. They should have and could have made me sit home without pay until my renewal was completed.
