hello everyone, just wanted to get some feedback on the compass entrance exam. is it similar to the teas or net exams?
thanks a bunch!!
I've seen LPN programs that do require Compass scores above a certain level for admittance.
It's a pretty straightforward test. On the math section, be prepared for fractions, percents, square roots and simple equations. The reading is mostly identifying main ideas and accurately placing things in chronological order. Writing was a lot of punctuation (especially commas) with some grammar and capitalization.
:)
i took the compass test a few months ago i found it to be a little tough myself.i had to score above 34 for math/pre-algebra, above 76 for reading, and above 57 for writing if you fail a part you can re-take just that part but you have to pass all parts to get into the program. (that's in my school......community college.)
i failed the writing twice now i'm being tutored i'm hoping to pass my writing so i can start my classes this spring.
did you have to take all of it over or just the parts you failed???? please let me know if you can. thanks
oh, thank god! so is the reading tricky like the net test reading???? and what was on the math was there alot of algebra or was it basic stuff??? please tell me i take it tuesday
. my school requires that you pass a certain score also.
i've never taken the net test so don't know much about the reading.
the math has some algebra, fractions, percentages and some basic stuff. the reading is kind of tricky just make sure you re-read each section before going on. the writing is mostly on usage, punctuations and mechanics.
good luck on your compass.
I had to take the Compass to get into one of the LPN nursing programs. It was math, writing, and reading. I scored 244 overall. It was pretty basic stuff. I didnt get a chance to study for it so dont sweat it. Its either you know it or you dont. I was glad to get the results the same day.
But since you keep failing the math, can you get a review book or use one of the websites to brush up on your math? Just take your time. The test is long and the math was the last section. Maybe by then you were burnt out. Hopefully just taking one portion will help you focus better.
Good luck!
