So now I am doing a little shopping and such. It seems as though Jtcc has a every other weekend (Fri, SAt and Sun) class set up. Is this staight instruction? Is it with the Commonwealth on line program? Anyone, please let me know. Also would love to hear about Bon Secour too.

I believe JTCC weekend program is for LPN-RN program. It is not open to students who are not already an LPN entering the RN program.
I don't know much about Bon Secours program, I know it is 3 years and they have alot of more science classes you have to take then most RN programs. But I hear the program is very good. Sorry I don't know more HTH.
I appreciate that. It may be JTCC for me. I have a few gen eds. already. :balloons:
JTCC has a good program I hear too. Have you thought about Southside Regional's hospital program? they have a two year program and you may need to take a nutrition class that you wouldnt have to take at JTCC but I think you would have more hands on clinical time at Southside Regional. Something to consider anyway.
:idea:I live in central Va so JTCC is about an hour one way where as Petersburg is just too far. I would like something that would take what credits I have and be student friendly, and I could attend part time.
Am I asking too much?!
Well what credits do you have? Most of all nursing programs generally have the same prereqs some more science classes and others less. There are very few part-time programs in virginia. Bon secours does have an evening part-time program and they give you six years to complete it. Check the curriculum out, I found it to be alot compared to other nursing programs.
Southside Regional has an online program too where you only attend clinicals at the hospital and the class portion is online, so considering you may only have clinicals 2 or 3 days a week it may be worth the drive.
The other program that I know about that is evening is Riverside Health they are in newport news though but the class in only two days a week 6-10pm and then every other weekend. I hear it is a good program and I am considering applying when done with my prereqs.
I understand what you mean about trying to find a flexible program but there seems to be very few. The majority is day programs only, unless you consider private schools and then you are talking about alot of money to enroll. The good thing is that you can complete all of your prereqs mostly online or distance education so that helps some.
The main difference that I have found is that some programs require a microbiology class and some don't. Sometimes, also a one credit class here and there. Some will make CPR a credit class, etc. I really need to get out of my own way so to speak and just plug away at PVCC which is 22-25 minutes away. They actually DO have a part time program etc.
Okay, so WHY way I going hundreds of miles down the road?
where is PVCC and what kind of part-time program do they offer? Wow if they are closer and offer a part-time program I would say go for it!!! They by far sound better suited for you with the distance you would face for other programs. Some people don't care about the distance, I don't care about it too much I can go up to 75 miles away I just want to get it done. Good luck!
PVCC-Piedmont Virginia Community College- is in Charlottesville, Va.
Almost exactly in central Va. I guess I got in a huff, because they would not give me credit for some of the classes that I have been taking on and off since, 1982. As they say, life happens. It's the rules. So I need to get over it and get going. They have a part time program which is pretty good I hear.
I have heard of nursing schools not accepting science classes that are over a certain amount of years old. I would just repeat the ones that you need but be sure to get into the nursing program and complete it or else you may be faced with the same dilemma about the science courses.
Most schools are not so picky to make you retake the general education classes no matter how long it has been.
Look at it this way nothing worth having will be easy. You can and will get it done.
I went to the website just to look at the curriculum, it looks like a good program. I was curious. I have heard of PVCC before but didn't know where it was located.
Time will fly by so quickly once you get into your studies. Good Luck!!!!
:balloons:yes, actually it is the best one for me. I am enrolled in a bunch of gen eds. this fall and they even offer many on line. I really appreciate your help.
P.S. have you finished your RN? Thanks
