Company Nurse

Published

Hello Colleagues! I'm a graduate of batch 2012, also passed the NLE last June-July 2012. Currently I'm a bum and still looking for any trainings which is not hospital based. I did tried volunteering in a hospital but I quit after 3 months. I realized that I'm not into hospital-based nursing and was barely trying my luck looking for any possibilities to become a company nurse. Is there anyone from you who is already a company nurse? How was it like? I'm really interested on this one, but I don't know where to start. :( Can anyone please enlighten me on this? Any response will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance and God Bless fellow nurses! :nurse::nurse:

i did apply for a company nurse position this september. i was told that most of the time i will be doing paperworks.. like, i would be the one responsible for the workers' health papers, philhealth etc.. also, assisting the doctor on physical exams, dispensing of medications for sick workers.. but mostly paperworks, im pretty sure it's not just the health papers, but a lot of other papers as well i just forgot about it. i didnt pursue it as i figured i didnt like paperworks. anyway i guess it depends on what company you apply to. :) dont be afraid to try and who knows, maybe you'll love it. :)

The Full-time RN we had at my former employer did hearing checks, managed the drug testing, ergonomics and coordination with our Safety manager on creating a safer work environment, plus all of the day-to-day "school nurse" type stuff. She was a wonderful resource and the employees really trusted her.

Super thanks Alyssa Monique and Adjappleton! :) it really gave me an insight about it. Btw, does application as company nurse need to be through an agency? I've been searching though job opening sites and most of them are agency based. Im kinda afraid about agencies since I don't know if they are legit or not. :(

hi alyssa would like to know where you applied as company nurse? is it an agency or direct hire? thank you

the company i applied to was actually an agency, but the position i was applying for was for direct hiring.i suggest researching about the company prior to applications to ensure if it's legit or not :) or if they have no available website try looking for blogs or discussions about it :) i think there are a lot of agencies looking for a company nurse but i think they mostly hire for their company and not as an agency :)

I think most companies or agencies require you to take OHNAP.

Thats true! I did try looking for BOSH Training and I came across the one given by OHSC. When I called them, they said that I should ask training from OHNAP, so I called them but no one's answering. :( Does anyone know when will be the next schedule of BOSH training from OHNAP? How much does it cost? :) Thanks in advance! :)
