Compact Licensure

My husband is active duty military and we move all the time. We recently moved to Texas for our most recent PCS. However, I started the process while we were in AL so I was not given a compact license since I'm not a "Texas resident". Is there any way to obtain compact Licensure without changing our official home state (FL)? It's seems like a huge complication for our taxes and in the future if I get a TX license but he remains a FL resident. Any insight into this process? Thanks.

OP, there may be good news for you over the horizon. My state, Georgia, has recently agreed to become a compact state in the next 18 months, or once the 25th or 26th state becomes a compact state (whichever comes first). Being that I have a Florida license as well, I VAGUELY remember reading something to the effect that if Georgia goes compact, so will Florida, since Florida will then be bordered by all compact states.

I know I read this somewhere. But check it out for yourself. I believe it was contained within the Georgia BON petitions and/or the state of Georgia recently-passed house bills. But look into it for yourself for accuracy. It doesn't help you now, but it will in the long run, if I haven't misinterpreted the literature.
