COMMUTING - is it possible?

I don't live in Ontario so I can't comment on the serviceability of the TTC system.

But when I was attending school in Vancouver, I had to commute daily by bus between home and school. A single trip took about an hour, and during snowy winters, two-hour trip was not unusual.

Nevertheless, I find that the long rides provided me a good opportunity to study. In fact, I'd say I probably spent more time studying in transit than at home or in libraries.

That said... if you don't mind leaving the house earlier and returning home later than if you'd lived on campus, and you are comfortable with reading in jittery and noisy settings, then commuting to school probably isn't a bad idea.

I just wanted to know what people's opinions were on commuting. I've been accepted to York and UofT accelerated programs, but I'm having quite a hard time trying to decide whether I should commute or not. Its pretty expensive to live downtown toronto, but commuting from mississauga would take me about an hour and a half everyday, each way. I would also have to use a combo of driving, bus, and subway... which is really annoying...

the commute to york is a bit easier for me, its just one GO bus. but is it really do-able considering the compressed intense schedule? anybody know of people who are currently commuting and their thoughts on it?

One thing to keep in mind is that clinical placements may be anywhere in the GTA, so you'll have to figure that type of travel - at all hours - into the mix.

I did my 4yr undergrad at uoft st.george n live in brampton so my commute is about 1hr 30 min n honestly it really wasnt that bad n time goes by really quickly. The only issue I had with commuting is the cost.

i got accepted to uoft nursing so i'll be doing it for another two yrs but i'm used to it. While york may only be one bus, i think you should also keep in mind that the uoft campus is literally right around the corner from several hospitals (sick kids, toronto general, mount sinai, princess margaret and toronto rehab), whereas york is really only in close proximity to one (sunnybrook), so either way a significant amount of travel will be involved. I just dont think you should base your decision on commute because they're pretty comparable in terms of travel times and cost. It'll all be worth it in the end.

If you can read on the bus, I think it'd be fine to go the distance
