do you have to do community service at your nursing school? i went to schoolcraft and we were required to do 120 hours of community service for red cross. we did blood drive, emergency preparing, community teaching. plus we had to write papers after we do our community service. it taught me many good things by doing community service but it was time consuming.

i am starting 2nd year at schoolcraft and i don't really like the community service requirement, to be honest. it's not that i don't want to do the service, it's the way that the program is run. (i think it was changed quite a bit last year ---- new people in charge ). it is very unorganized, and they keep changing the rules as they go. we were only allowed to do one of the "tracks". i got blood drives, and it got really boring doing them over and over. i would have liked to do the emergency preparing, but they only took 16 students (out of 90).

i do like going on the "field trips", though. i went to a wound clinic last year, and this week i will be shadowing a midwife at hutzel hospital.

i graduated last year, and all the 2nd year students signed a petition not to write 5 page paper. :yeah::yeah::yeah: i dont know about 1st year though. she made us come to red cross meeting a day before our test date. it was so hard to juggle between studying for the test and doing community service in between tests.

but what matters is its all behind me thank god!!!

I attend LCC and yes we are required to do 4 hours of Community Service each semester. It's nice though, we can choose where we volunteer.
