Community college for LPN

Published

Im starting next month at my community college for nursing. Of course, I have to get all the pre-reqs outta the way, but I was wondering, how does it work after you complete the pre-reqs? Do you still need to take a pre entrance test into the schools nursing program or does it go by the grades of your pre req classes?

Depends on the school. My school you had to meet a GPA and pass a college level reading test. Some LPN programs are different than others. Talk to an adviser at your school to get the best answer and good luck!

I'm going to second what windmill182 said about getting with your adviser. They'll be able to tell you everything in the world that you need or want to know. I believe a lot of schools are different in some areas or another. The way it goes at my college is that once you're in the middle of your last semester of completing your pre-reqs, is when they say it's the best time to complete your PSB Exam. I was told I had to score 230+ in order to be able to sign up for selection. It's best to study for and take the PSB as soon as you believe you're ready to do so. This gives them time to receive your score and go from there. We also have to make a B and no less in particular classes, along with keeping a GPA of 2.75 or higher throughout pre-reqs to be qualified for selection.
