Communication Gear - ER

I am on a communication committee and need to get some ideas on different communication tools/gear that nurses use between each other while running around the ER.

I am looking for something other than the standard "phone" that our call lights roll to.

All thoughts/ideas are welcome.

We used to use Vocera. I hated them. I always felt it was incredibly unprofessional to have it beep and someone just start talking when you were in a patient room. Maybe if they had an earpiece or something so it was more private but just random out loud convos bothered me. Now, we don't have anything mechanical. We just find each other or help each other. I like that better.
