i am going to graduate soon with an adn-rn. i have worked as a licensed veterinary technician for many years at various facilities. my question is: does anybody have any ideas on how i could combine the two for a career? i truly like working in both the veterinary hospital environment and the human hospital environment. i am at a loss on how to combine the two, even in an entrepreneurial aspect. any ideas?

I don't know of any way you could combine the two except for working part-time at each job. I have never heard of any facility that serves both humans and animals. :)

What about service animals? Perhaps training the service animals or helping people train their own service animal or facilitating the transistion of the trained animals to their people.
Also, something to do with therapy animals in health care settings.

Saw a posting once at a 24 animal ER..they were looking for an animal nurse. Not sure what that exactly means though.

I used to work in an animal shelter, and now I'm getting my RN. Personally, I think you should work as an RN and then get involved in rescue for cats and/or dogs. Your experience as a vet tech will make you a great foster/rescue home. This is what I plan on doing. Or even just volunteer your time and expertise at a shelter.. they always need it.
Thank you everyone for your helpful posts! Another idea I have thought of is combining a home health nursing service for local veterinary clinics and human home health. Granted the veterinary side will have more regulations/rules than the human home health (they get so picky as to what you can and can't do). A couple of years ago I did also co-author a reference book for vet techs and the use of care-plans. Again, thank you for the posts and if you think of anything else please let me know.

Maybe something involving research? I'm not sure if this would work since RNs usually work with the people aspect of research instead of the animals but it might be worth looking into.
I like the research aspect. That is one to think about.
