how to combat laziness

Published

I need ways to overcome my laziness and be comfortable with studying for hours. I dont go out alot. Its usually tv or

Computers that distract me. If i eliminate these two factors from my life, i can easily just fall a sleep

The main thing is never to push yourself. You need to take breaks every 30 minutes to an hour to rest the mind

Personally, I usually study away from home such as a library, Panera/Starbucks, and sometimes Ill go to the local community college and study there. I also go to University library's since they tend to close very late. I found group study is also helpful to keeping you on track but, there is always a risk of talking and chit chatting so its not for everyone. For the group studies that we do...we plan an hour that everyone feels comfortable studying and then we will all arrive an hour early for the chit chats and then straight to studying. It is hard to find a group study where everyone is similiar to each other and can study together and be focused. Dont feel bad about kicking someone out just for the purpose of finding the perfect group... its hard.

I also bought some noise-isolating headphones that block out 99% of noise even if I wont listen to music, I will still use it because it just blocks out almost all noise.

Most importantly, either turn off the cell phone, or keep it hidden in your car or somewhere on silent. If you bring a laptop, do NOT connect to the internet. Instead, do it on a "as need" bases.

Take a look at your health status to make certain your health is not contributing to your sluggishness. If you are not engaged in a vigorous physical fitness routine, get started. Physical exercise on a daily basis does wonders in getting the blood flowing and increasing and maintaining your stamina for any kind of activity.

maybe you could determine your learning habit and manage your time so you can still watch TV and enjoy doing things in your PC.

1. Do NOT keep the computer on while you study. If I have mine within 10 feet of me and it's powered up, I will use it.

2. Turn the TV off. If you're like me and you need a little noise- turn on the radio. (No iPod or MP3 player- you'll fidget with it.)

3. Get up once in a while and move around. I study for an hour, then get up and do something for 15-30 minutes. (I either do my housework, or I hop on my treadmill and THAT is when I watch tv thanks to the glorious invention of the DVR. LOL)

Good luck.

Thank you guys so much i need to do some routine excersies. Get the blood rushing you know. The one that really got me excited is the headphones that block out 99% of noise. Noise is a huge distraction in my housr i NEED to know the brand of those headphones
