Hello!
Are there any other CTC hopefuls applying for Spring 2018? I know we can not submit apps until September 15th, but I believe being proactive and networking before hand is a great way to inspire and talk about the process... I take the NLN Sep 11th. Have you all taken it before? What is there to expect?... is it vastly different than the TEAS??
I'm new to this so this may post twice. Saatyaazo I am a transfer as well and on the application it asks for your Columbus tech GPA what did you put since you haven't gone there yet. Also was the packet just supposed to be those 2 pages and nln score print out? I'm nervous it's too simple and I'm missing something. Nervousros I studied online vocabulary at any site I could find and took the practice tests. Lovingmy2 I took the test yesterday too I'm sorry you were so close but don't give up keep trying and apply other places too.
It's just your pre req gpa! For the nursing program! Do you know any specific website? Also are you talking about the practice test from the nln pax 3rd edition book??
Were the chem and physics questions just basic formulas and amplitude or actual solving?
I don't know how to pass the vocab part Bc you just don't know what to expect
Lovingmy2 I love your positive attitude! You are right, the good thing about nursing is that there are so many ways to reach your goal! You can also look into CVCC, they start new RN classes every fall. (That is going to be my plan b lol)
Nervousros I found the vocab section incredibly hard to study for. I got so many questions wrong on the practice exams. My husband on the other hand could answer almost all of them correctly. English is my second language, so that didn't help lol I downloaded apps that help build your vocabulary (like dictionaries that let you play quizzes). But I didn't think it was super helpful, because it just takes time to learn... There is no way of knowing which words they might possibly ask.
Buuut don't worry. Just do good on the other sections. I actually focussed my studies more on things I was able to learn in a short amount of time vs trying to master all kinds of words I have never even heard of.

I was confused what to put there as well so I asked them! They say to just put "transfer student" there! Welcome to our little group! What did you score on the NLN? This whole thing is so exciting! And yes it was just the 2 pages and the NLN print out. I already dropped it off and they looked through it. I know, it seems way too easy, right? This makes me so nervous, especially since I am just now finishing my pre-reqs...
That's a great NLN score! For me, I also think I used the wrong study guide for the test. The ones you guys used was NOT AT ALL what I used lol. Thank you guys for all of your positive input! I will look into applying to CVCC as well if I don't get into the other nursing program. Someone told me about a school named Southern Union? They said they have spring and fall ASN programs. Never heard of their program but I will look into it as well... when will they send out letters for CTech, do you guys know?
Your score is great!!!
Lovingmy2 I would honestly still apply at Columbus Tech. Who knows maybe not enough people apply and they are more lenient regarding the scores. And yes Southern Union is located in Opelika and they start twice a year. I'm not applying because it would be too much driving for me, and the kids would need the babysitter longer. But I heard good things about them!
We will find out if we got in after the fall semester ends, sometime after december 5th I wanna say!

Well I've already applied to Southern Crescent in Griffin, but I'm thinking about just applying for the LPN program in the summer.... maybe. Because I have all of my prereqs done for the ASN programs already I don't want to just sit and wait around for another year until I can apply again... I figure once I get my LPN I can just bridge for my ASN.. better to be in any program than to just sit around and wait! That's the great thing about nursing; there are so many paths you can take!
