Published

A thread for the Columbus State University fall 2016 applicants for the online family nurse practitioner program.

What is the online learning site and how do we get access to it. I know classes starts next week.

Not sure what "site" you are referring to. You should already have access to "go.view" through Columbus state. Your classes will not be loaded until the first day of class. I'm sorry I can't remember how to get to the initial site to set this up although I am certain I got it from an email.

Rest assured you can not get access to anything until the first day of school. If you are still concerned I have always had great luck contacting the MSN coordinators through the school with any questions.

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to get some insight into Columbus State University's MSN FNP Program. Do they admit on a rolling basis and do you know how many students they accept per term?

Also, do they require prior RN work experience?

Thank you for any advice on the program!

They only accept students for the fall semester. Not sure exactly how many slots but there's about 50 people in my class. It doesn't say in particular whether work experience is required, but I would highly recommend it.

I will graduate from CSU in May 2017, I have only 17 in my cohort....I am SHOCKED you have 50 are they all FNP students or is this the mix class of everyone.....

Hello guys. I have been accepted into the CSU FNP program, with a start date of January 2017. Super excited!

As far as testing dates, what if i am scheduled to work on the day of an exam? I have to make my schedule months in advance for work. Does CSU offer Any flexibility with this?

I can only speak for Patho as I just ended my first semester (my Health Policy class didnt have any tests). The quizzes are open to take for two days and anytime during those 2 days (Sat, Sun). The tests are not proctored, but are only available to take on Fridays between noon and 2 and the test cuts off after 90 minutes. You can start anytime between noon and 2 but that's the only flexibility. There are 3 tests on the Friday of weeks 6, 11, and 16 if I have that right. There are three different professors--divided out per test. The best prep you can do, in my opinion, for the class is to watch Khan Academy heath tutorials online. Of course the class might change next semester in its format.

Wow. It sounds like they aren't as flexible as they had led me on to believe. I make my schedule a few months before we even get a syllabus so it's impossible to ensure I have testing days off. This really blows as I was so looking forward to starting with CSU. I emailed the director and indeed she said no flexibility.

but..you are prob taking pharm first because of your start date instead of patho first? I am taking pharm this semester so cant give you any info on test date flexibility

They do lead you to believe that as there were several frustrated students in my patho class over that. They recommend taking the test on your lunch hour.

Well I just spoke with south university in savannah. They DO offer testing flexibility. The director of CSU responded to my email and she said she does not budge on testing. So I may have to reconsider starting with CSU
