Has anyone who applied for the MDE/CNM program heard back?

I have a friend who hasn't heard back yet either from this program.  Anyone else waiting on MDE/Midwifery?

I haven't seen anyone in the CNM program post about acceptance yet 😞

Fingers crossed for today! I really don't want to go another (long!) weekend without knowing!

Happy Friday. Thank you to everyone who's posted the status of their decisions.  It feels particularly hard to wait in my case because I have a family that has a strong opinion in nursing school. The other top schools have already announced decisions.  Columbia's timing is an outlier, and the MDE starts 3 1/2 months from today! I really hope Columbia lets people know soon.  Good luck to everyone.

It is quite annoying as I've been accepted to Yale and have to commit soon but I'm just waiting on Columbias decision, it is so delayed.

So sounds like there are 4 on this board and 1 I know of still waiting on CNM.  All the other programs I think people have heard.

Hey Guys,

Congratulations to everyone that has already got their acceptance!
I called and spoke to the office yesterday they said to not listen to people talking about their acceptances or what they "think they know" verbatim on how decisions are being released.

So please guys everyone please be respectful of people waiting for their decisions. The truth is unless Columbia shared their ways of working for the decisions with beyond personally we actually have no idea how their doing it and why some people are getting it before others.

It's not fair to assume that people for certain programs or specialties have already been given acceptances and some have not(indicating they may not have gotten in). There's only about a handful of people on this forum we have no idea what the applicant pool even looks like.

So everyone stop assuming it's not fair for others waiting.and good luck to everyone waiting please be patient and have hope and faith. Whatever happened to saving the best for last??

I know it's anxiety ridden but Columbia is known to take the longest in responses. I think they are having a staff retention issue in admissions from what it looks like. And they lost people in admissions in January which I'm imaging slowed things down significantly especially since the holiday!

Stay strong good luck to everyone don't worry more acceptances are coming next week! Enjoy your weekend do not stress, nothing good comes from stress!

I disagree.  There's no reason to ask applicants to behave differently.  Columbia is late.  The program starts in 3.5 months, and all other peer programs have released their decisions.  It's normal for applicants to try and figure out what's going on because the university is so late, and they are inexplicably releasing decisions in waves, creating confusion. Instead of insisting that applicants behave a certain way, the university should apologize for the delay and get responses from people.

I understand your positioning.

In the universities defense they are not "late".this is the time they come out with applications in mid February. Last year my friend got their acceptance on the 13th.  It's not an ideal admission time, yes I agree. But Yale's application deadline is not even until March 1st, many similar programs are still accepting applications. So in YOUR predicament it's not convenient, yes I agree, but that does not mean it the same for everyone. They are not "late" for my timeline. In fact many peer programs in the Tristate area are still accepting applications and send decisions out until a 1.5 months before the program starts.

Secondly, no one is asking people to "behave" any differently. We are all adults behave how you want deal with your own consequences. However, it's not correct to be make assumptions based off of a forum that is not fully indicative of the application pool in and trying to determine "the specialties receive it or acceptances first, rejection last" etc. That is simply what I was referring too-mindfulness. Being mindful of "other" individuals waiting and expressing anxiety.

The email the sent was simple and vague I agree. But there is nothing confusing about it. "Decisions will be rolled out in batches over the next two weeks.” It's just vague and it's human nature for us to be impatient and wanting to know more. Hence, leading to forums hence reading into what other proper say, wondering if they got their admissions, or if they did what specialty they applied for, etc etc... confusion comes from that my friend. Sit tight, I wish you the best and I hope you receive your admission decision soon! Good luck!

So again, to those that agree or not whatever, big congratulations to all who already received their acceptances. Good luck to those waiting, the best is yet to come!!

Happy Saturday!

Under any measure, Columbia is late.  It's no excuse that Columbia is always late in making decisions- late is late.  Yes, it's a factor in my circumstances because most nursing applicants are single and/or able to move quickly, but older applicants with children and family commitments are in a different boat.  Columbia can (and should) do better here.

Yeah, I do think nursing schools as a whole can be better accommodating for families. The planning especially if you are changing locations can be tedious. Definitely let them know your positioning in hopes of bettering their admissions down the line for others in your situation.
Wishing you and your family the best of luck! Hopefully things turn out just as planned!

Good Luck everyone!

All I was saying in this is I know several people waiting to hear from CNM and have not heard of anyone being accepted to that program yet.

I was not making any assumptions just starting the facts I know to be true.  Which is 1) I know at least 5 people who are waiting on CNM and 2) I know at least 2 from each other speciality MDE/DNP that have been accepted. I did not say or assume that all decisions were out or not out for any specific program.

I know this is a super stressful time.  I hope that everyone hears something soon!!
