Columbia University ETP 2008

Published

So where are the potential 2008 Columbia ETPers at? I think a handful of regulars around here have Columbia on their list of apps, so heres a thread to get us through until notifications in Spring 2008. If you'd like, reply here and let us know which specialty you are trying for! I just submitted my app online for Acute Care...Good luck everyone! ;)

There are several resources for private loans. Columbia has actually ranked the top 20 lenders. http://www.columbia.edu/cu/sfs/pdfs/Top20Lenders.pdf

The research I read said to compare whether the lender sets their interest rates to the the LIBOR to the PRIME. I also spoke with a friend who works for a lender. He said it's a good time to purchase loans and between Columbia's preferred lenders, Citigroup or Access, he said either would be fine. He said to try to negotiate the rates with the lender. Also, if you type into google libor vs. prime you will be directed to an article that describes the difference. Let me know if you want more details.:nuke:

Hey all,

Has anyone received anyinformation about how to access the Accepted Applicant Webpage yet?

Also, another deadline this week: Student Health Forms by Friday.

I really can't wait to get started. Both Columbia and Steele Supply Co have finally cashed my checks, I'm getting ready to give notice to my current employer, my Micro professor is starting to talk about the final...it is starting to feel very real!

You're scaring me:) The health packet says it's due on April 15th. I need that time because booking a doctor's appt. brings you a waitlist longer than housing. J/k But I'm doing it ASAP and it's really close to the deadline. I'm still waiting for the access to login as ETP students but I haven't tried calling them. That's now on my to-do list. I'll post any news I find. :nuke:

My bad! You're totally right, I wrote it in my calendar a week early to keep myself from doing it at the last minute.

Sorry about that!

No worries. I like your maneuver. :wink2:

I called them last week about access to the website, they said that they're doing work on it and it will be up "in a week or so." Who knows what that actually means in real-time.

My doctor called in sick and cancelled my appt today, the earliest I could reschedule is 2 weeks....do you really think it's a huge deal if my form is a little late?

There is actually a administrative fee of $50 after the deadline "10 or more business days before registration". No fun. If you send it in less than 10 days before registration then the fee goes up to $75. I found this in the medical booklet with all the forms our physician needs to fill out, etc. The administrative fee in general is $25. So when you miss that day you pay $50 total or $25 more than if you made the deadline.

I think there is a late fee of $50 which then increases to 75 if the documents are not turned in within 10 days? a few weeks.. You need to check the package for details. I would fax and mail in whatever you have done thus far. (the medical history that you complete on your own, past immunization record, etc) That's what I'll do since my app is tomorrow and I will most likely need chest X ray for TB (I received the vaccine in Europe so I'm positive) which will delay the process. Best of luck.

Elisha,

Call the office and ask if they can put you on a cancellation list; this way if a person who has an appointment sooner than yours cancels, you get a call from the office and if you are available you can take that person's spot. My app tomorrow is with a Family NP (who graduated from Yale direct entry program in 2007). I'll have a bunch of questions for her, hehe. When I called to schedule my appointment the docs were very busy and they would only see me for 15-20 minutes compared with a NP who dedicates 45-1hr with me and do all the necessary examination and immunization forms.

Hi Everyone,

I just discovered this website today while I was bored at work! I'm really excited to move to NY. If anyone is still looking for housing please let me know. Currently I am going to be looking for a studio but I wouldn't mind a roommate!

Also I talked to Judy Wolfe on Tuesday and she told me that we would get an e-mail from her on Wednesday to logon to the ETP webpage but I didn't get anything, hopefully we'll get something on Monday...

Accepted etp webpage is up! I got an email today from Judy, and I already have my CU email!

Yes... I activated my UNI account today too. However, I am not too fond of it. Did all of you receive something like: XXX####@columbia.edu? (XXX= first name initial, middle initial, last name initial)

I did not see the online form that needs to be completed for the face book account. Nevertheless, it was nice to receive more info about the program.

We're almost there!! Oh, and the first day of orientation (May 28 from 8:30-~5pm) they will serve breakfast and lunch - nice!
