So where are the potential 2008 Columbia ETPers at? I think a handful of regulars around here have Columbia on their list of apps, so heres a thread to get us through until notifications in Spring 2008. If you'd like, reply here and let us know which specialty you are trying for! I just submitted my app online for Acute Care...Good luck everyone!
That's really strange that the deadline was extended. I guess that can only be a good thing for us applicants who submitted it before Nov 15!! Good luck to all! I know this waiting period really sucks, so if anyone hears anything, keep posting...I know I really appreciate any type of news!
I received an email a few weeks ago stating that my application was complete and it also said decisions would be mailed out the first week of February. So I don't think it will be delayed because they extended the deadline. I did not even know they had extended the deadline until I went to the information session! They definately said that it helps to have everything in by the priority deadline though ...

I'm also in the ETP program right now. We are in our last week of the fall semester right now, getting ready for a much needed 2 weeks off. Since that first week in June, I've learned so much, but also know that this is only a small part of what it takes to be a good nurse. The most important thing, to me, is getting everything you can out of your clinical rotations - don't be shy about asking your preceptor to do something or to get his/her help to do something.
For everyone who sent in their applications, good luck! Don't get too stressed out while you wait for the notifcation letter(those come in the beginning of February), so think about something else while you wait :)
Did everyone recieve a form letter from Oscar Vasquez regarding the FAFSA? I like the idea that they are trying to get as much financial aid info out to applicants who are accepted, from what I've heard on the board thus far, this guy has never seemed that on the ball about things. Perhaps they are trying to become a bit more prepared and well organized...
Hi!
I too received the FAFSA e-mail from Columbia.. I think they sent that to everyone who applied this year so that we put their school in our fafsa application. I am not sure if the fafsa deadline is before we receive any news regarding the acceptance into the program. By the way, when to we get "real" news from them? Good luck to all.

I also received an email from Oscar about the FAFSA form. It has been a while since I have completed one of those! The thought of taking out like 50 k for school is a bit scary, but I guess you have to do what you have to do. I am wondering if pretty much everyone will get the 30k scholarship? I will end up making a good bit this year, but of course next year (if I get accepted) you basically will not be working much at all. I asked about this at the info session and Oscar said that the only people who did not qualify for the scholarship were students who were under the age of 25 and had to claim their parents assets. He also said that unless you have a ton of assets, than you will more than likely qualify for the 30k! Good luck to everyone...

asherah, this rumor was floating around before I came as well. It is false. Apparently they were going to change it a few years ago and then decided not to. So, you will finish classwork in May and receive your degree (it's a BS, not a BSN) the next time the university confer degrees (if I remember correctly that's February, May, and October). I am not sure if we will receive ours in May or October but we are able to take the NCLEX over the summer and it has no bearing on being able to get jobs or not.
best,
