So where are the potential 2008 Columbia ETPers at? I think a handful of regulars around here have Columbia on their list of apps, so heres a thread to get us through until notifications in Spring 2008. If you'd like, reply here and let us know which specialty you are trying for! I just submitted my app online for Acute Care...Good luck everyone!
Hi all, & congrats on your acceptance! I'm new to the site & really glad I found it - it's been a great resource. I was wondering a) who of the newly-accepted to Columbia are planning on attending the visitation day on 3/7 & b) for those of you who are in the program already, how important is it to attend? I'm trying to plan a trip out there to apartment-hunt the week of the 17th but that's Columbia's spring break so I was told there wouldn't be any students around to talk to. I just don't know if I can get out there twice in 2 weeks. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi K,
i was unable to attend visiting day last year, but i did attend a regular open house (for prospective students) that was offered the week before visiting day. there were a handful of other students who did this as well, and the directors of the program were nice enough to take us all into another room where we could ask them questions (unfortunately, there were no students there that day to speak to). you could call the admissions office to see if this is an option for you.
i think that its important for you to find out how the program runs, and what it's like to be a student in the program in order to make sure that its a good fit for you.
if you end up not being able to make it to visiting day, i'd be happy to chat with you to answer some of your questions.
good luck :)

Hi - I'm new to the site. I just was accepted for the dual Adult and Women's health np. A few questions. Does anyone know if student housing accepts any animals ( i have a cat). Also - I have been accepted at Simmon's College in Boston for FNP. Does anyone know anything about their program. any pros /cons. I'll be moving from Montana, and Boston seems like a more manageable city living wise. thanks!
:balloons: congratulations shortcake!!! that's 3 of us for Acute Care so far. I've been watching Trauma Life in the ER on the discovery channel all week and dreaming of getting the training that allows me to work in that wonderfully crazy environment
Sorry guys, but it looks like I will be attending Yale for their ACNP program good luck to everyone though! Have you guys decided on where to go yet? Keep me posted!

I will also be in this predicament...I'm going to have to take out huge private loans, and won't be able to on my own due to the fact I haven't built up much credit (luckily, I have no negatives on my credit report...just no credit!! haha). I will have to suck it up and ask my parents to cosign for me...which really sucks because I don't want that pressure on them, although I would never do anything to hurt them financially. Tough one!

I had a question about the financial aid info: did anyone else get a nice "you need to get a $63k private loan for the first year" letter? I am worried about how to even go about this, since I don't really know anyone with great credit. What is everyone else doing? What private loan companies? Yikes?
Elisha, go for it!!! You deserve it!!!
