The thread here for the Columbia University ETP program for entry in 2012 is pretty long (45 pages right now!), so I was hoping to elicit some of the same responses for those who are applying in 2013. Let's get to know each other!
Why are you applying to Columbia? What have you heard about the program- good, bad or ugly? Are you nervous, excited, ambivalent?
Looking forward to getting to know some of you!
Hey all!
I know this is super early but I am planning to apply for Columbia 2014. I am currently getting my BS in English and wanted to know if I would become a less competitive applicant if I don't have my Anatomy and Microbio prereq fulfilled by the time I turn in my application. Should I just wait for next fall to apply? Help!
kirbykk,
How far into your undergrad are you? If you are only a junior, you may want to consider just changing your major and completing another two years to get a BSN at your own school/another traditional college (cheaper, same amount of time in school, you get summer and winter breaks). Just a suggestion - but of course I don't know your situation!
If you don't have anatomy and microbiology filled at the time of the application, it makes it hard for the admissions office to determine whether you can handle heavy science classes. It may be best to wait until they are completed, especially if they won't be completed until the Spring (they require Fall transcripts before admission decisions are sent out).
When I filled out the FAFSA this past year, we were specifically told to select "5th year undergraduate." There will be an email that goes out from the Financial Aid office once applicants have been selected that has clear instructions on how to fill out FAFSA. I'll try to comb through my past emails and see if I still have the instructions but I'm pretty sure it was deleted.
Best of luck :)

missacheung,
I definitely will be applying to NYU's program for the Fall 2013 semester. I couldn't have applied for this upcoming January because I'm still finishing up my last semester of undergrad (at least non-nursing undergrad! hehe).
I have heard of Hunter and SUNY's programs as well, but I do not have all of their prerequisites. I don't have the orgo for Hunter or sociology for SUNY. Good to know I probably wouldn't have had a chance anyway
Congratulations on getting into NYU's program! And good luck :)
