Hello!
I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the Columbia Entry to Practice Program (among a few others) this fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.
Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?
I'm debating on-campus housing mainly because of the proximity to campus (I want to be able to walk) and it's generally cheaper. Plus, I've never been to NYC so I have no idea what the areas are like! I figure the campus housing is flooded with students and will be a safe area. As for scholarships, I've been looking but it's really hard to find any that I qualify for. We really won't know about financial stuff until our financial aid packages come, but there's a lot of good info in the Facebook group that was started for admitted students. Learning some of that info made me feel a lot better, and they prepare you to be able to live completely off of loans. However, if you're not wanting more loans, Columbia may not be the best decision because tuition alone for MDE is $87k :/ I'm hoping most of this will be cleared up after visiting day, but I really wish we had more time to decide!
Thanks for the info! How do I find the FB group?
Is there anyone who only applied to the MDE program who currently holds a masters or another degree in a different area ? It seems that most people applied to a dual program rather then just the MDE, so I'm just trying to get an idea of the acceptance rates for the future. Thanks!!
Yes, I did! I have a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Does anyone have the slides they showed from going to an open house, that they wouldn't mind emailing me? [email protected]
Hi guys 1) is there anyway we can make the FB group private? People interested in joining can do so easily but we can be more frank about discussing Columbia without anyone seeing it. 2) Has anyone considered deferring? Is this possible? I'm in for MDE/FNP but may need a little more time to get the classes done. Let me know if either prospective current or past students have any opinions on this. THANKS!
