I was surprised that there didn't seem to be a thread for this year's applicants to Columbia's ETP program. So I thought I would start one. The information session was today, but I wasn't able to go. I was hoping someone else went and would be able to post any admission statistics or tips for the personal statement they gave.
found the application at this link: http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/dept/nursing/admissions/pdf/RobertWoodJohnsonScholarApplication.pdf
looks like the application deadline is March 1st.

I believe the school applies for funding from rwjf and decides who gets $$ based on how much funding they receive.
Do you guys think it would be acceptable to use our admissions essay (or a version of it) for the RWJF essay? I wonder who will be seeing/judging essays for the scholarship...it would be nice to be able to use the essay I worked so hard on already, but I am not sure if admissions is involved with the scholarship applications too...any ideas?
It looks like the questions on the RWJF application are, for the most part, similar to those on the entrance application. I don't see how you could not repurpose the personal statement. Your history and motivation have not changed, so your story is still the same. I don't think I qualify for this particular scholarship, but if I did, I would definitely be using portions of mine.
(take all this with a grain of salt because it's just my opinion). I am quite clearly biased in favor of Columbia. But this is the Columbia thread, so that makes sense :)
IMHO I don't think there is a contest between MGH and Columbia. They are on par $$ wise. Columbia is a world renowned ivy league university with all the bells and whistles that come with attending a real university. Things like a library, housing, a housing office, sports, clubs, etc. Columbia's hospital (New York-Presbyterian) is ranked 7th. Columbia awards a BSN after the first year, which means you can and should worked during your specialty studies.
MGH is a powerhouse hospital, ranked #2. MGH IHP is an offshoot of that, and is now a separate organization. MGH IHP is quite small, does not have it's own library (you can use the MGH hospital library or the Harvard library). They do not award the BSN until the completion of the program.
I think there is a close contest between UCSF, Yale, and Columbia but I would not consider MGH in the same league as those schools. I was accepted to MGH also... I declined 2 days later because I had other acceptances to choose from. I know you can't believe what you read on the internet, but I read some less than stellar reviews on the MGH program. The rankings, reputation, and the reviews I read about bad experiences were enough to make me want to steer clear of MGH.
Columbia Rankings:
#21st overall (it's tied with like 5 other schools)
#4th in Adult NP
#5th in FNP
#9th in Peds NP
ranking not available for mental health.
MGH Rankings:
#63rd overall (The physical therapy program is ranked 7th, but nursing is quite low)
They only rank the top 20 programs in each specialty, MGH has no ranked NP programs.
