UCDHSC Traditional Program Students, Spring 2008

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello to all my fellow students who are attending the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in January 2008. I am enrolled in the traditional program and I wanted to start this thread so we can share any information, thoughts, ask questions, carpool potential, etc. I've been to the new Anschutz Medical Campus and it is awesome! Can't wait to get started!

:welcome:

Congratulations on your acceptance! It is an excellent program. You are starting at the new campus; I hear it's beautiful. Good luck!

I'm also starting the traditional program in January. I received the welcome package in the mail last week and spent some time last night mapping out the first semester. The descriptions of the courses in the package look very interesting. I'm getting excited to get started!

I also purchased the first semester's books on Amazon. The total so far (I've not yet bought the texts for the 3002 class) was $200 including shipping. Not as bad as I had expected.

I was over at AMC today to donate blood at Children's. It seems as if the constructions is tapering off.

See you on 1/9/08 at the orientation.

Dan1100rt,

I'm looking forward to it also and I am still trying to decide on when to take the labs (see my other post looking for some current student advise). Hope to meet you at orientation.

PS - Are you male or female? If your male like me we will stand out like a sore thumb I'm sure, ha! Do you own a BMW 100RT, just curious because I had the 1150RT model but sold it in the spring.

I am a male; even easier to spot due to my bald head.

Yep - I have two R1100RT's currently; my old '97 with 75,000 miles on it and a '99 RT-P (police model) that I just bought. I have to sell the '97 in the Spring to pay for the second semester!

I am planning on signing up for the clinicals on Thursday mornings. BTW, I bought all of the books on Amazon for the first half of the first semester. Total was $200 including shipping.

Ha! Yeah, my gray hair will stand out. I'm going to try to do all my labs on Wednesday afternoons to cut down on the commute from Lafayette.

How did you only get away with $200...the 4 books I bought on Amazon set me back $259. All of them brand new though. I did spend a lot on a stethoscope, bought an electronic one...I'm into the latest tech stuff. Also bought a PDA.

Ah - that would do it - I bought the books used whenever possible. The Pharmacology text didn't come with a CD, but I figured I could borrow someone's and burn a copy if necessary.

I acquired a stethoscope as a holiday gift - I put it on my Amazon.com wish list and voila! I bought a refurbished T|X from the Palm factory outlet on their online store. A lot of technology companies (Apple, Dell, Palm, etc.) have a refurbished section of their online stores and the products come with full warranties. Trying to keep the costs down as much as possible...
