Collin College ADN SPRING 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I am hoping to be part of the Collin College Spring 2018 Nursing Class and I want to start a new thread where other potential students can communicate with one another. I am taking Micro this summer and plan on submitting my nursing application by the August deadline. I will be taking my PSB exam at the end of July.

Collin no longer gives potential students access to the point system used to rank students. Does anyone know what a competitive PSB score is?

I have a 3.75 for my co-requisites and I am hoping to maintain my 4.0 in my pre-requisites. Can anyone offer any insight on PSB scores?

Thanks in advance!

Maria

I've already gotten my titer, & my Hep B levels turned out to be low so I'm repeating the series. Do you know if I'd still have to do a titer again after? Or would the negative titer test and record of doing the whole series again be enough?

& Oh yeah, I'm sorry!! That was meant for Jmoore and the other military medic that didn't get in.

Congrats!!! See you next Thursday at orientation :)

Can I pick your brain? I did terribly on the AA portion first time around. Taking it again on Monday and I'm super nervous. I do great on my practice tests when I have time but the test timed me out so quickly last time. Any advice? Did you guestimate on the math questions? Did you answer all 90 questions in the 15 min time limit? Help!

Umm, I wouldnt totally say I guestimated on the math questions.. I just rushed myself the second time around because I wanted to make sure that I'd be able to complete the whole AA section, unlike last time when I only got halfway through. Honestly, I probably did a lot more guessing on the nonverbal questions. I wanted to just get through those quickly because those were just making my eyes hurt the longer I looked at them.

I dont know how you are with math though. Are you fairly fast in solving a math problem? If not, guesstimating would probably be best for you. The most important thing is that you answer those 90 questions! Do not leave anything blank because getting any of those wrong won't hurt you.

Good luck! You got this :D

Thank you for your reply! Yes, I have heard the most important thing is to finish. I got flustered when I read one of the math questions wrong last time and I think I spent like 4 min on that one question. lol Going to focus on working quickly this time. Thank you!

Are there specific PSB practice questions or just general arithmetic questions? Some more practice questions would be great! Like I said, I do well on the questions...just not super fast I guess.

Just work through their quizes as fast as you can.

Thank you!!!

It's frustrating that you can do the work but 90 questions in 15 minutes is ridiculous. I would think they would value accuracy over speed but apparently not. I have no idea why you would put math questions in the same section as verbal and non verbal. I don't believe that proves anything about my ability to do well in nursing school. It makes me crazy to go through this application process again. I feel like I'm losing so much time! :(

I admit I'm starting to get frustrated and down by this whole process. I appreciate your encouragement so much and will definitely check out the links you posted. Hoping for a better outcome for Summer.

From what I understand, you have to get a new titer to show you have immunity to everything. Did you already do your TB test? I did my flu, but I'm waiting to do the TB until it gets closer since it's only good for a year.

Orientation is next Friday, right???

Ohhhh....and did you know someone already started a FB page for the Spring 2018 group? You should join. :-D

I definitely agree with skittleysweet2. Work as fast as you can. A friend of mine was advised to not work through each problem completely. Just get close enough to where you can narrow down the answer and answer it. The first time I took it I didn't finish because I didn't realize there were so many questions (I went to the Information Session AFTER I took the PSB). The 2nd time I went as fast as I could and got the 90th percentile. Best of luck to you. I know it's super stressful.

Hi All! Congrats to those who got in the nursing program. I'm curious if anyone that was waitlisted has been notified yet?

Thank you!

Nope, nothing yet for me - waiting by the phone anxiously for a call that may never come. I'm very curious as well!

I was curious if they call or send a letter. Keep my phone with me everywhere I go.
