Collin College ADN program Fall 2022

Published

Hi, I know it’s kinda early but I wanted to start a string for those applying to Collin college ADN/RN program in the Fall of 2022. I just want to know where I fall points wise and competitive wise to others who are also applying this coming Fall.

Lectures are done all together, labs are divided to 25 people per lab but are all done on the same day. There are 4 labs that rotate throughout the day as each lab teaches something different.

Do the professors provide like slides for lecture ahead of time? Also we’re y’all allowed to use iPads and or laptops in class?

Yes all PowerPoints and activities are provided before the lectures. Not only are iPads and laptops encouraged.. they are 100% necessary.

OK awesome! I know there are some nursing schools I’ve heard of that don’t allow laptops or stuff like that in lecture which is crazy!

All tests are done in person but through your laptop. The lecture desks are awesome because they have places to plug in your laptop for each seat.

Do you also know when we do/need the CPR training by? It didn’t saying anything about it in email but on the nursing website says it’s required. I’ll call and ask if y’all don’t know.

Technically It’s required before start of classes, but if you get behind on the things they need to be completed and turned in on castle branch they will work with you.

Is it possible to take classes in the Summer to finish earlier ?

Nope. Summer classes and Winter classes are not part of the ADN program. Only fall and Spring semesters.

Do you know how long orientation normally lasts?

The orientation I went to last semester was in person and lasted 2 1/2 hours. This time around it appears it will be in a zoom setting so the time may be different. Definitely attend (they take role) and it will answer a lot of your questions. There is also a time period to ask questions that the professors will answer. I would save any questions y’all have until then (as far as calling / emailing the staff of the program.) I’ll still be happy to answer any of y’all’s questions that I can answer with confidence!

How does the registration work? Like how do we sign up and get started with payments? Sorry I’m just a little over whelmed ?

Everyone! Start your identigo fingerprinting for your BON card ASAP. The process takes a little over a month in most cases. The last thing you should put off is your blue card. No blue card = no program. They will let you progress through the program without it initially but if it turns out you can’t get one then you are out of luck.

prioritize your blue card and your blood titer test!!
