I applied to CNR for the Fall 2011 as a transfer student. According to the website, the deadline is May 21 but when do you find out if you are accepted? After you apply, you really don't hear anything from them again.

Can anyone share their experiences with CNR? Classes? GPA and essay when applying? (hearing feedback from a transfer student would be great but I'll be happy with any response that has accurate info.)

Pre-reqs are:

Concepts in Biology (if A&P I & II are not completed)

A&P I & II

General Chemistry

Nutrition

General Psych

Developmental Psych (Lifespan)

Intro to Sociology

Comp and Lit (english 1 & 2)

Algebra w trig (but I think they will accept College algebra functions & models)

*Computer Applications

*Statistics

*Microbiology

* means can be taken as corequisites along with nursing courses

I'm not really sure about re-takes, maybe someone else can help you on this site with that one, or maybe they have an explanation on their website www.cnr.edu

I was at CNR yesterday to register and I took a walk around and noticed all the apartment buildings near the school. I loved the area!

I was leaning more towards Larchmont until yesterday. I would love to be able to walk to campus and my BF just needs reasonable (mile or less) access to the Metro North to commute to NYC. Coming from Queens any rent under $1,200 seems like a steal! I'm going to look more into those pre-war looking apartments nearby the college...hopefully they allow pets, I have a very mischievous cat coming along with me :cool:

I think I'm still in a state of disbelief...I can't believe in September I'll be starting college full time again!

You're welcome, congrats again... The road that you were walking on was probably Pelham Road, which is right near the college and are lined with apartment buildings. There are also a few side streets like Drake Avenue that have apartment houses as well.. Metro north is not that far from their, I would say less than a mile within the general area of the college.. You want to be honest, but if you are checking out an apartment building that allows pets I would sign the lease and then move the cat in. I don't think the landlord or realtor would care but you know how neighbors are, you could have a cat that drags them out of a burning building and their repsonse would be "I didn't know you had a cat, blah blah blah i'm allergic"

Some places may require a fee,or 2 months rent one months security up front. This is something you can usually negotitate but realtors usually won't wave the fee. Good luck !!!!

umm guys nobody is talking about the Financial aide. Am so glad we got accepted! but one question how much scholarship did you recieve for CNR? i only recieved 8,000 for the year! which is to me really bad because i rialzed on their website it says 8,000 per semester. I would really prepfer dorming but its insane to pay 18,000 for one single year:confused:..so how was your financial aide?? i cant wait to see everyone on aug 18th for the orientation :)

Hey,

Did you apply for financial aid ? (FAFSA, TAP). I applied early, becuase my income was not that great due to being laid off from my job, as well as having a daughter, as well as donating a majority of my/my daughters things that we no longer needed to a few charities in need made my income very low. (add my mortgage interest and property taxes).

I also read online where it said to file as early as possible, so I did so. My school was covered thanks to a couple of grants and the maximum loan amounts I could take, and about 10% out of pocket.

The Fafsa website (if you applied) would send you your efc (estimated family contribution). This is the amount that if all goes well, and the info you provided when you applied is fasfa is verified and approved by the school you are good to go. Take the paperwork or email from fasfa/tap and go to the financial aid office. The staff at the financial aid office at CNR was incredibly helpful and went over everything with me. I'm guessing you applied for aid becuase you asked about it, if you included cnr's school code when you applied they should have everything. i would call and make an appointment, and if you didn't apply, I would go to fafsa website and do so right away. Hope this helped, I kind of didn't understand your question fully.

i did apply for FAFSA..and they offered me some $$. Am talkin about the CNR scholarship, i was only offered 8,000 for the whole year which is 4,000 per semester. Was that how yours was? because with a lot of people i heard its supose to be 8,000 per semester. My GPA is 3.3..so i dont understand why they are giving me the 4,000 per semester. you understand?:crying2:

Yes, I received the same amount, but was told it was $4k per year. The advisement counselor confirmed that back in November when I first applied. I have to check the website to see what it says, but yes, I'm at a 4.45 and received $4k per semester

thats wierd becuse a friend of my got 8,000 per semester. I was reading this on their website :

The College of New Rochelle recognizes

superior academic achievement through

merit scholarships based on previous college

cumulative GPA. The President's Scholarship

awards $16,000 per year. Students receive

$8,000 per semester (fall and spring). To

remain eligible for the scholarship, students

must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The

Academic Scholarship awards $14,000 per

year. Students receive $7,000 per semester

(fall and spring). To remain eligible for the

scholarship, students must maintain a 3.0

cumulative GPA. The Dean's Scholarship

awards $12,000 per year. Students receive

$6,000 per semester (fall and spring). To

remain eligible for the scholarship, students

must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The St.

Angela Award provides students with $6,000

per year. Students receive $3,000 per semester (fall and spring). To remain eligible for

the scholarship, students must maintain a

2.7 cumulative GPA. When students complete

their application, they are automatically considered for CNR's merit scholarships. Recipients are notified shortly after their

acceptance.

So if my Gpa is above 3.0 why shuld we be getting the 4,000? are you planing on commuting or livng on campus? in fact am so confused i will have to call them to clarify it. Even on their website theres no scholarship that offeres 4,000 per semester ..

I see exactly what you mean. Is your friends gpa higher than yours ? I'm wondering if it's the higher the gpa as a transfer student, the more scholarship you receive. It also says maintain a gpa over 3.0, which looks like it means you must stay above 3.0 while attending cnr itself. Would love to know what you find out, is your friend also a transfer student ?

Ok so all my financial aide issues got resolved! am only left with a balance of 1,000:yeah:.. but one more question..are guys guys ready for the TEAS EXAM?? what are you doing to get prepared for it??..am so nervouse!

Hi everyone. I'm interested in applying to CNR for the spring semester 2012. I have a 3.9 gpa.... have finished most of the prereqs except college math, computers, and stats. I have retaken 4 classes and received A's in them. I am working on my application and essay right now as well as my transcripts. I am a transfer student with 41 credits..... do you think I have a shot at being accepted into CNR's generic program? It looks like a beautiful school and I went to a catholic high school and grammar school so I am used to the catholic aspect of education. If anyone could provide me with any information I would really appreciate it. What was everyone's gpa? Prereqs completed? I'm also a little concerned with the financial aid...... I hope it covers a majority of the cost. I applied early like in march. Maybe I would be eligible for scholarships too. I'm thinking positively. Also another q...... I am not able to apply online so Iwill have to turn in a paper application.... does anyone know if there is a fee for that? Thanks so much and congrats to everyone who made it in for the fall of 2011 :)!!

I was accepted into the college of new rochelle for spring 2012. I received a merit scholarship for 10,000 for the academic year. Just waiting on financial aid to see what else I am eligible for. :)

what program were you accepted into? The traditional or accelerated program? I am just looking into the College of New Rochelle, I am curious if they are very difficult to be accepted into? I live in NYC and it is brutal here to be accepted into a program. any info would be great...I have a bachelor's of science already.
