Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi good people, I've applied to CNR for this fall. Is there anyone who has applied too? When will applicants start knowing their fate? I'm restless lol.

Good day! I hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions. What is your overall opinion on the nursing program at CNR and why?!

I have enjoyed the program so far. I've had good experiences with all of my professors, and find that they are very helpful and really want students to do well. The program is rigorous, and you absolutely need to read the textbooks to do well in the program (at least if you want As). The clinical affiliations are great, and I did my last semester at Montefiore. My clinical instructor, who is also a new professor at CNR (she teaches patho I and med/surg I) was fantastic, and we learned a lot and did a lot. Generally you have your choice of clinical day and site as long as you have your papers in by the deadlines they set. The program is 2.5 years, however if you have a 3.5 GPA and above, you may qualify to take the third semester (i.e. OB/Peds and Patho 2), or the last semester (Community and Leadership), over the summer, which allows you to finish a semester earlier (they go in order from highest GPA down until that special summer session is full). I also work at NYP and CNR is known there, and I know a number of RNs that are alums there.

The only thing I don't like is the parking situation. I wish there was more parking, as it can be a problem depending on what time your class is (early morning and later in the afternoon don't have problems).

Thank you so much for your response!! I really appreciate it!!!

0Hi,

i recently applied to CNR for 2015 for their BSN program as an undergraduate transfer. I haven't fulfilled all the pre requisite classes, but I'm concerned my GPA will bring me down. I'm waiting to hear back. I was told I should expect an answer by the end of this week. My Cumulative GPA is about a 2.8 from averaging two college gpas, and my TEAS V score is a 76 (proficient). Does anyone have any thoughts?

Hi good people, unfortunately i didnt get in😐. Ive been accepted to Lehman though. I wish us all the best ☺☺☺

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools and Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Hi, I've read many of your posts about the Nursing program at CNR. I was accepted as a second degree individualized student for the Fall 2015!! 😁

Hey! Your GPA can be brought up because you still have prerequisite courses to complete. Your TEAS score is pretty decent. I say, even if you aren't accepted for the Fall, you can reapply in the Spring once you bring your GPA up. Either way, I'm rooting for you!!!!

Thank you for your reply!!! I did get in!! Thankfully!

I have another question in terms of financial aid. I received my grants/loans, but i still have a large sum i have to pay. I am looking into private loans, and I am completely aware of how tough the rates are for private loans. Any suggestions of what I should look into?

Congrats!!!!! I hope to see you in the fall!!! The only advice that I have is that credit unions usually have better interest rates than regular commercial banks.

Also, you are better off getting a student loan as opposed to just a private loan. Student loans usually give you at least a 6 month grace period for repayment after graduation.

I just finished my first semester in the accelerated program I have to agree that they need better teachers. my NURS 209 professor read from powerpoint so you're pretty much teaching yourself the information. The professor makes you look stupid when you ask questions. that was nurs 209 all my other classes went well. The school is very unorganized for the tuition they charge they should have things running more smoothly with that being said good luck. i'm starting my second semester in a few days hopefully I have better teachers and better experience.
