Awesome, I'm guessing you're in the traditional program as well? I'm pretty excited to finally start this journey. Did you get the email about foundations? I think I've gotten it like 6 times already, haha.

I'm pretty sure the accelerated and the traditional program are separate. Or maybe you guys get ahead of us during the summer since we're off then. I did get a few emails from foundations lol.

What do you think she meant when she said "7. UNIFORMS: Information will be shared in the NUR209 class. You will not need until October 2014. "

Yeah, they're separate. I'm in the traditional program too. Yeah, just a few emails...haha.''

Uh, that means that we'll find out what the clinical uniform is, and where we can get it, in the actual class (not before). We don't go to clinical sites (nursing home, hospitals, etc) until October. Before that, for foundations lab we're on campus in the learning center lab. I asked about the uniforms when I met with someone to register and that's what she told me.

If you're bored, you can log into Angel, and they've got the foundations syllabus already up if you want to check it out and see what we're in for. It's 70 pages long!

I just looked up the Elsevier website the fundamentals book and the clinical calculations book recommends, WOW! go to

http://evolve.elsevier.com/Potter/fundamentals

Register an account there. The company gives you key terms guides and explanations and tests for every single chapter in the book.

Ok awesome, that sounds great, I'll do that, thanks a lot. I think I might also get the Study Guide for the Fundamentals book. In the syllabus she highly recommends it, so I guess we should get it.

Can't wait to start! I dropped off my health forms on Monday, and walked around a bit.

I bought the study guide. It actually looks really good. Besides purchasing the nursing bag at the school store, it says we have to buy a separate stethoscope. Do you have any recommendations on inexpensive ones?

Hmm, what's your price range? I'm thinking a Littmann Classic II SE, I've heard good things about it whenever I look into stethoscopes. It costs $74.99 on AllHeart:

Littmann Classic II S.E. 28" Stethoscope | allheart.com

Amazon has a bunch of colors of that stethoscope for a little less:

Amazon.com: 3M Littmann Classic II S.E. Stethoscope (Multiple Sizes/Colors): Industrial & Scientific

I think you can also use it for both adults and peds, so that's good.

There's also the Littmann Lightweight II SE, which doesn't seem to have gotten as good reviews as the Classic II SE, but still good, and cheaper. $49.99 on AllHeart:

Littmann Lightweight II S.E. 28" Stethoscope | allheart.com

A little less on Amazon:

I've also heard good things about ADC Adscope and Sprague, and those are cheaper, so you may look into those. I think I'm going to stick to the Littmann as I've always heard good things about them.

Hope that helps.

Actually, check out this website:

Stethoscope Sale - 3M Littmann Stethoscopes - Medisave USA

It's cheaper than Allheart, and if you like their Facebook page you can get a 5% discount code. I can get a Littmann Classic II SE, with laser engraving of my name, for $70.20.

what is the schedule like?

Hello Everyone ,

I got accepted to the CNR accelerated Nursing program and was wondering if anyone who is already in the program can give me any insights on what the program is currently like. I was looking online and some of the reviews in 2010 was pretty bad pertaining to some of the professors. any insights would be awesome . Thanks in advance.
