College of Mount Saint Vincet vs. College of New Rochelle or NYU-Spring 2010

Published

Hi,

After reading Allnurses.com for the past several months during applications, I finally joined! I wanted to know if anybody else applied to the second degree programs at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, College of New Rochelle and NYU - starting Spring 2010?

I received an acceptance letter from CMSV a few weeks ago (Yiippppeeee!!!!) and am still waiting on CNR and NYU. My plan is to finish the pre-reqs and join the nursing program - regular track. I have a few pre-reqs done from my past BA and a few classes while working in London, UK, for the past two years.

Anybody else? I would love to hear thoughts on these three schools and other people's decision making process.

Any future study buddies out there?

Good luck to all the future NY student-nurses out there!

Cheers,

Alison

I plan to also send in a formal letter to CMSV. The $38000 is for the two year program? Also I believe I only need the Nutrition pre-req to be considered ready for the nursing program, I dont know for sure yet though, when did you get to register? Also what does the first semester look like, schedule wise. I would love to have your email, we may be having courses together, who knows?

I'm really just anxious about getting my financial info ready and finally have a picture of what the next few years will look like money wise.

Cheers to us!:yeah:

Hey!

I completely understand! I was very anxious about the whole financial aid organization process! But, calling the financial aid office really helped me. I would suggest calling them and asking the status of your package. Also, I would focus on the Bursar's Office for the total cost - which states that the College of Nursing's tuition is $18,293 per semester (http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/tuition.fees/rates09/ugnurse.html). The total cost depends on how the program is done. So for me, I have one full semester of pre-reqs (nutrition, psych, and anat/physio) so I will be in school five semesters in total. If I do them all Fall/Spring that is about $91,500 ( I don't like looking at the total)!!! I believe Summer/Winter courses are billed a bit differently.

The $38,000 came from a NYU Undergraduate Financial Fact sheet that the school sent me with my financial aid package. It breaks down estimates on other costs as well (books, etc..) - I'm sure you will get the same thing. But it is meant to be a "general guide" for all NYU schools- not specific to the Nursing College.

I registered for courses last week - including nutrition! They should be sending you the information about a week after they receive your deposit --(I would think). Maybe we will have nutrition together!

Talk to you soon!

Alison
