College of Mount Saint Vincent ABSN Summer 23

Published

hey I just got accepted to CMSV for the Summer 2023, wanted to know if anyone else is applying or attending for the Summer.

What materials or resources do you use or recommend?

Depends on the professor but you have to purchase a program called coursepoint for each class and I religiously did the quizzes on there before every test. All my professors used variations of the questions on coursepoint, plus the program explains any questions you get wrong on the quizzes so you actually learn.

Besides that find 2-3 people in the class you trust and divide up readings/share resources with them. I was lucky because the girls in my lab were all really good students, so we helped eachother throughout the semester.

Thank you. Pathophysiology and fundamentals already sent the link for coursepoint will just go ahead to purchase

I plan on getting simple nursing don't know if that would help or do you think outside resources would help?

I guess this financial aid people are terrible I booked an appointment for them to call me today they never did

Never heard of it, I used the complete nursing school bundle before the program and it helped with getting me familiar with basic knowledge. If you drop your email I can send it to you. Other than that just get familiar with basic terminology because once you start professors don't bother teaching it so it can be overwhelming if you have to learn it on top of learning everything in class

Wow! Thats pretty interesting. Crazy for a personal loan how long it took to get your money back.  Geesh. Glad it worked out though. How was your class schedule first semester? Thanks for the heads up on the program. First person to give feedback on the program.

Totally, I remember finding it really difficult to find any info on programs when I was applying so I'm happy to help others going through the process. My class schedule was decent (I'll attach it), clinical says it's 8 hours but in reality we stayed max 4 hours, and the lab on Tuesdays was also easy, the professor was great. The class that was hardest was Patho, we often didn't have enough time in class to cover all the material and had to do a lot on our own but the professor for that class was really great. Definitely expect to spend a lot of time studying and doing work, but know that towards the end of the semester it slows down a lot. The first half of the semester you'll have a test about once a week so time management is key.

for fundamentals and health assessment I studied mostly on Sunday Monday and Tuesdays, Patho I always studied Thursdays and saturdays. Health promotion is a joke LOL it's very easy. Let me know if you have any other questions I'm happy to answer them!

Do you spend the long hours allocated to each courses like 4hrs at a stretch? Lols

That was really nice of you to offer your schedule. The schedule doesn't seem too crazy for a ABSN program. Were you able to pick your schedule or are you given the schedule. I received my masters from the mount but always skeptical about their pricy ABSN program. Where will you be transferring to. Also was your cohort a big size ? Thanks again for being son-flexible. Oh lastly did you work at all ?

I wasn't able to work at all and I don't recommend doing so, I babysit so occasionally would pick up a weekend shift but only if I didn't have a test the upcoming week. Their program is pricy but all ABSN's are, and one of our professors was a nurse director at montefiore and said she hires new grads out of CMSV so I'm sure you'll be able to make good connections. My cohort was small, about 25-30 students.

I'm transferring to Columbia's MDE program, originally was going to stay at the mount since Columbia's program as over 100k but they gave me a 50k scholarship so it ended up being worth it to transfer, especially since I'd be getting a masters instead of a bachelors. The mount is really what you make it, if you stay on top of your work and are good about self teaching then you'll do great. Wish you luck in your journey!

Hi,

I'm applying to CMSV's ABSN program as well. I am wondering why they're significantly more expensive ($70,100 is the total tuition for their 16 month program) than other ABSN programs. Is it because of their hospital affiliations? They have the best I have seen for any ABSN program (Weill Cornell, NYU, Columbia...). I am very happy that CMSV dropped their organic chem prerequisite, as most other ABSN programs just require General Chemistry...

Does anyone know how long it takes for CMSV to get back to you regarding their decision?
