Thread for COM applicants.
They had to extend the date a month because so few people applied. So those who applied have a decent shot of getting in!
hang in there guys, I know how it feels to not know if you made it into the cohort. I was on pins and needles and anxious, but once I got my welcome packet i was over the moon. My best advice for those who make it in the program is to relax, enjoy the summer, and get ready for a wonderful year of learning about nursing. I look forward to meeting you during the Elsevier book tutorial on July 11, or during the Welcome picnic on August 20. Good luck and the next two weeks will go by quicker then you know:)
I do know they have already officially accepted some students. I spoke to a girl at the information meeting about the University of Phoenix bridge program. Her number was somewhere in the top 20 and she had already taken the TEAS when they sent the lottery numbers out last month. Once she submitted her scores, she said they officially accepted her. I'm not sure what number they were going up to. The waiting is torture though!!!!
One of my friends was one of the applicants from last years cycle and she was officially accepted as well! I wish they would update us on how many students they'll be taking and how many spots have been taken already. Mgh3478, how was that meeting? I had all the intentions of going but for some reason I thought that it started at 1pm & by the time I went to check the email to see what building it was going to be in I noticed it started at 12 and I would've never made it on time
It was good. They said they intend to have another meeting sometime in June once they have finalized acceptances. You have to apply to University of Phoenix by June 20th and the first class would start on July 5th. It's all coming up so quickly! I hope COM doesn't take until June 10th to get out acceptance letters!! But it seems like a good opportunity. The Dean at COM was there and he was stressing the importance of getting a BSN. They have the bridge program through Sonoma State but they only take around 11 people each year. However, Phoenix will be taking anyone and everyone who wants to do it (but they do need at least 15 people from the incoming class to commit). So it's a good alternative to SSU if you can't get in there. And you can't beat the price!

mtrac, I would say there is a chance. I know that the past few years they have gone all the way up to the 70's and 80's (and I think maybe even higher) in the lottery numbers before they had all their spots filled. People fail the TEAS or COM isn't their first choice and they choose to go to another school. I wouldn't count yourself out yet. I got into another school in SF and they are moving along a lot faster than COM. COM is definitely my first choice but I'm kinda going with the flow with this other school until I hear from COM, just in case. If you have that option as well, I would do it just as a safety net.
