Members are discussing their application status and point system for admission to nursing programs at various colleges. Some are on waiting lists with scores in the 70s, while others have already been accepted into programs like SRJC. There is uncertainty about the waitlist process, concerns about incorrect scoring, and advice to remain patient and optimistic while waiting for updates.
Hi I applied to the COM nursing program right when they started accepting applications in November but I think they are still taking apps for the next couple of weeks. Making a discussion to see if theres anyone else out there who is trying to get in? Look forward to hearing from you guys!
Sunflower21 said:Hi thank you for all the updates. I emailed in regards to my application and I was told I have 60pts but in my calculation I have 65 pts. Who do I contact in regards to that. Also they told me they are still processing applications but I am worried that the scoring is incorrect and if that will affect my application.
Hi Sunflower, it is my understanding that at this point in the process, it is too late to re-verify points. If you still want to pursue this, I would schedule an appointment with a counselor and ask them for the person's email that verifies the points. Goodluck!
Ceez M said:Hi everyone, I'm the Student Nurse Association president at College of Marin's nursing program, and I want to congratulate the few who have gotten in so far! I wanted to let you guys know that it may be pretty discouraging not hearing anything back from the program, but hold on!
College of Marin has a lot of people who tend to fully accept the offer that they receive, but later drop out due to other schools coming out with acceptances. Unfortunately, there is no good way of regulating this, as most schools across the country face the same issue. I personally know a few people who got accepted mere days before the orientation started and are now doing amazing.
Please hold on and check your COM email every day for news.
My main pieces of advice are to enjoy your Summer while you can and be patient. Once you get in, things move fast! For those of you who are planning on attending, I am excited to meet you all at your orientation (NE95).
I will periodically be answering whatever questions I can on this thread.
Thank you so much for this update. Good to know someone who is in the system can answer our questions. I was told I'm in the low 70s for points and a while back they were on students with 84 points. Do you happen to know how many seats are filled currently? Also when is the last day for the college to send out acceptances (I.e. first day of orientation)? I'm praying a spot opens up for me this Fall.

Hi AST, I would say that currently the amount of students accepted is irrelevant, due to the fact that some schools may or may not have sent out acceptances. There could be 30 spots filled but a large chunk of those people will eventually drop out of their acceptances to COM and go elsewhere. I've heard of people even getting accepted even after orientation and still succeeding in the program. In terms of points, I got in around the 2nd week of admissions with ~87 points. My only piece of advice is to continue checking your email and if you are comfortable doing so, update the forums with whatever points you had when getting accepted. Goodluck!

Hi Sunflower. You should fight for your points! Call SHELDON CARROLL (Enrollment Services) at (628) 234-8822 and ask how to file a petition. Good luck.

Hi Ceez M, Thank you so much for the clarification and encouragement. It seems like there's really no exact way to tell what could happen. But it eases my worries knowing there's still a chance to get notified of acceptance. Getting accepted after orientation is crazy to hear! Do you know when COM's orientation is? I'll continue to check my email everyday LOL.

Of course, orientation should be mid August. If you get in, I'll see you there!

I'd like to reiterate that the current number of people accepted is by no means final. People are constantly rejecting their acceptances and accepting different programs' offers. This will continue to happen throughout the rest of the Summer, and the "33 accepted" is not accurate. Thank you, keep checking those COM emails, and good luck!

By any chance do you know what number on the point system they are currently working on?

Hi @Ceez M Thank you so much for the clarification. It really helps with any discouragement that comes up when reading 33/44 seats are taken! I appreciate you!
