Is anyone currently in the process of applying to the College of Marin nursing program? I just submitted my application today after not getting into SRJC's program last year. Hoping for the best this time!

Here are my points for COM:

Criteria 1: 10 pts

2: GPA- 40 pts

3. 2 pts

4. 0 pts

5. Teas- 40 pts

total: 92/100

Congratulations everyone! I got in too, can't wait to meet you all in the Fall :)

What's up guys. I'm finishing up 1st year of COMs nursing program. I remember the anticipation I felt while waiting for acceptance into the program. I didn't hear back until the end of July lat year... JULY! I felt like the lottery system was a little defunct and I'm happy COM went to a multi-criteria based admission approach. In my opinion, it's the right way to go for ALL community colleges. It seems to honor merit and hard work while attempting to take into account the diverse variety of socioeconomic and educational backgrounds people have coming into the program. Congratulations on your hard work. There's definitely more of that to come. :)

As for those of you applying in the future, it should be that much more transparent now of what you need to do in order to get into the program: have good grades, do well on the TEAS, get your CNA or EMT during the interim year, volunteer, take a foreign language (Spanish is a HUDGE help!). Check all those boxes and you'll be sitting pretty.

Hey all,

I was contacted to write a short personal statement as a tie breaker for what I am assuming is a couple of available spots in the program. Is any one else in this same boat? The statement was due on Friday 4/20. Thanks!

That's awesome, good luck! I'm curious what number they've moved onto since it hasn't changed from 76 on the website. Do you mind sharing what number you have? It's ok if you don't want to.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

How do you find out your number?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Never mind I figured it out. It's the points you scored.

I got 75 points.

Hey everyone! I was accepted to COM. For those of you who sent in the acceptance form, did you get a confirmation email that they received it?

Hi everyone!

I just finished my first year of nursing school at COM and I'm wishing all of you lots of luck.

I was in the lottery system last year, so I know the acceptance process has changed.

If anyone has any questions about the program I'm happy to answer what I can.

Best of luck!

Hi there! I have a few questions. What was your first semester schedule like? And what clinical sites were the students placed at during the first semester. Also, does anyone in your cohort work?

I am also curious about the RN-BSN bridge programs with UoP and Sonoma State. Are you participating in either of those?

Thank you so much for your help and congrats on completing your first year!!

Hi!

I'm happy to help:

This was my first semester schedule, not sure if it will be the same for you:

M-

lecture 9-12

T/W-

Clinical 6:30-12:30

I was at Marin general and kentfield hospital.

Other cohorts:

Marin General

Kaiser terra Linda

St.lukes in sf

Th-

lecture 9-12

Skills lab 12:40-2:30

Pharm 4-6

*pharm was the first 8 weeks only

F-

Open skills lab 2-4

*this is an optional class

A couple people work in my clinical cohort, and maybe half of my class works. Be careful with over extending yourself with work-nursing school really does take up a lot of your time and energy.

I am enrolled in the UOP program.

I hear it's about the same as Sonoma state's Program.

Thank you for your response! It is super helpful with planning ahead. What were your start up costs for the program (books, uniforms, supplies etc) and how do you feel the program is preparing your to be an RN/pass the NCLEX?
