College of the mainland (COM) Fall 2016

Published

Hello everyone, I'm just making a thread for everyone that is applying for this upcoming semester. I applied last for the spring but didn't get in d/t a clerical error so make sure if you guys are applying to double and triple check they have all of your information in the system. Good luck to all of you!!!

Ok. It seemed really short to me. Yes this is the only program I applied to. I missed the other deadlines. My score is 406. I tried retaking the TSI but ended up with a lower score than the first attempt. So I decided to just run with it. I know it's a little low :/

San jacs deadline is the 22nd so you can still apply to that one. And last semester someone got in with like a 402 so you have a pretty good chance.

But I still need to take college algebra for San Jac.

Mr. Moody said number 60 was at a 404. Not sure how true that was. I'm just nervous to not get in.

Have you heard any good things about COM? Is there nursing program good? I have read comments but it was old ones.

Is there anything in particular you need to bring to the meeting with Mr. Moody?

No. He just goes over your grade points.

I haven't really heard much honestly. I know someone that was in the program but since then there has been several changes made. I kinda just go by the nclex pass rates. As long as it's above 80% then I'm fine with that.

And also, I think Mr Moody forgets a little bit because he told me 407. Its somewhere around the low 4's though. At least we know that much.

I've read reviews but that's true there's been several changes. I think their pass rate is in the 90's. Which is a good thing.

80's. Check out the Texas BON for a list of all the schools in the state. A few years ago they have gotten in the 90's though. Last year was 81.43% and 2014 was 85.71%. But honestly, that's just a stat for the people that passed on the first try, the others that failed could have passed the 2nd. There are so many variables as to why people fail.

Yes that's true there's many variables. I'm just nervous I've heard they've done a lot of changes to the program.

Were they things that made it worse or better?

Some people said that they no longer had lectures that it was a recorded lecture. Not sure if they changed it. In going to call and ask the school.
