College of the Mainland ADN Program

Published

Helpppp! I missed the spring 2016 ADN deadlines for College of the Mainland so I'm planning on applying to the ADN program for Fall 2016. Is there anyone else considering to apply for the fall admissions too? Also, can anyone tell me what courses/things I can do to get ahead since I will have a whole semester to do so? Any information on the program will help. Thanks!

Hello! I am a former student of the C.O.M program but I flunked out and now I'm planning on returning for Spring 2016. I noticed you said you missed the Spring 2016? The deadline is actually August 1st, I am applying for that semeseter. I would suggest you start reviewing your basic A&P, and find Fundamental Books online and start doing NCLEX-style questions from evovle elevsier. The NCLEX book is good for that, good luck!

Hello the deadline is not until 8/1/2015 so you still have a little time to apply. I actually applied for the Fall 2015 program but didn't get in because someone dropped the ball and didn't put in my TSI score...I was really upset but maybe that was Gods plan.

Hello @MissRonishaB if you don't mind me asking what semester did you flunk out in and how was it? Is it really that hard?

Hey @ Forisha, I Flunked out Spring 2014, I had personal issues the first time, second time even more personal issues and a health issue. They have a new director that lifted that "5 yr limit" rule, so I was able to come back! All my classmates have since graduated and are preparing or have already taken the Nclex. I was a 1rst year 2nd semester student. I was on clinical II and Med surg when I flunked

Sorry @Forisha I really didn't answer your question lol! Health Assesstment, Clinical Intro to Nursing and Clinical I were not that bad, if you have a little background in the medical field you can get through these with little difficulty. I had my biggest challeneges in Med-Surg which is Common Concepts on paper. It was so difficult for me because you actually have to "think like a nurse" which I had a hard time doing. I suggest you start doing questions now to train your brain on how to answer critical thinking questions, that is the number one key! I practiced but it wasn't enough & I thought I could do a few and then breeze through it, If you study, do questions and go to tutorials you can pass. It's stressful and alot of work but its the only way!

For the Op. Did you end up applying? I submitted my application there and hope to get in for the spring 2016. What did you guys score on that tsi? I got a 384

I made a 370 on it, wow that's a great score I think the highest is 390, I applied and I spoke with the director she's really nice, I think I have a good chance of getting in for the Spring

Great, hopefully we both do!! My total score was a 426, as I'm missing microbiology but will be taking it in the fall. I hope missing that 15-20 points doesn't hurt me too much.

I haven't even calculated my points lol, I think I'm ok though, that's good your score is very competitive! I forgot what they said the average point system score was, It was different when I was actually in the the program, she has made it some much more reasonable to get it, I'm ready to get started!

I am also applying for the Spring of 2016! Does anyone know how many people are applying? or what a "competitive" score would be to get in? I have taken the HESI and TEAS, if they want to look at those scores too. Considering I took the TSI right after highschool and my knowledge has increased since then. I have a bunch of other courses too besides just the prerequisites. I'm wondering if they will take that into consideration as well... Comment back please!!! I want to know y'alls input.
