College help

I am a senior in high school and I just recently found out my GPA. Im really upset because im class rank 70 out of 165 and my GPA on a 6.0 scale is a 3.4 but on a 4.0 scale my GPA is like a 2.2.

It is lower then I thought and i figured I wasnt doing that bad in school, because I work my butt off and im in CP classes along with taking a vocational class (Allied Health Care) so I dont have enough room in my schedule to fit electives.

Anyways, I really want to get into William Paterson University and major in Nursing. But im not a good test taker and my last SAT scores were a 1260 out of 2400. I retook them in the beginning of November so ill get the results back in two weeks but i probably did the same score or maybe a little better.

What do you think my chances are of getting into William Patt?

I don't know about William Paterson U, but here in CO there is a program called 60/60. You take 60 credits in CC and they are transferable to the state U where you take the last 60. In the CC is where you need to work on your grades. My daughter is a Jr and will be starting her CC classes early (she'll be getting dual credit). She has to take the SATs and all that, but with the 60/60 CC program, she will be considered a transfer student and not a new admit, she really won't have to worry about her HS GPA or SATs this way.

The Universities, here at least, understand people try to control costs and so are very much behind this program. It may also a better indication of how you will do in the higher academics (I think anyway). Can you do something like that where you do the CC classes, get great grades and then apply as a transfer student to WPU?
