College of the Canyons Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I am starting this thread for anyone that will be applying to the COC spring 2015 semester!

I am so nervous to start applying, and so excited at the same time!

I am curious as to what every ones GPA is that will be applying?

Im in vo's class

I saw someone comment on this earlier, I just wanted to clarify. So for the skills labs we are to wear like slacks (just not jeans), but i see nothing about shoes or tops. So I assume we can just wear a normal shirt and closed toe shoes?

I think it's more along the lines of business casual.

Just wondering who is going to wear their uniform for skills lab tomorrow. :)

I'm not sure if it is different for first semester. But for us in third we can wear jeans and tshirt.

Hi Everyone! Checking in to see how your first week and a half has been? I am sure you are exhausted already! It gets easier when you get to clinical (believe it or not). At least that is my opinion. Keep your head up and keep studying! Biggest thing is TIME MANAGEMENT. Without it, you can fall behind very quickly. Utilize skills lab open lab hours if you are able to and be sure to ask your Professor questions. They all want us to succeed!

The first two weeks have flown by.I think we are all anxious and excited to get to clinicals and start applying what we have learned so far. Thanks for the advice!

I think these first weeks have been great! I am definitely tired already, but I'm really excited about everything I've learned so far. I think the most difficult thing is figuring out how to study. There is so much to know/memorize I'm not really sure how to begin. I think once this first test is over I'll have a better idea of what I need to focus on. Anyway, thanks so much for your help/advice excited1! It is really encouraging :)

You'll all do great! Time flies by. Make your time at clinicals count! Remember in about a year you will basically be the nurse! 3rd semester is really a turning point. At least that's how it feels for me! It all feels more surreal or perhaps real! I love it more and more everyday, some days are harder than other since more is expected, but if I can do it while working and doing the CSUN cohort then all of you can :). Lmk if I can help in anyway.

I got in and got everything printed. I am so excited for tomorrow. I just hope traffic isnt bad since I live in Torrance

Hi @studleygrl99 I just ran into your post and I am wondering about your commute to COC for the RN program. I got admitted for the FALL 2015 cohort. I live around Torrance so I am a little nervous about the drive....Im hoping you can give me some insight on the whole experience since you are from the same area :)

LAVC/GCC would also have good RN program
