I see cutbacks, pushbacks in all specialties and arguments about the big budget and no one really knows whats going on. But many are complaining about CEO pay and expansions used as an excuse that are to blame. I'm just putting this out there. Any thoughts? Saw ABC news tonight.

Unfortunately there is only 1 CEO and many, many employees. So even if they cut the CEOs salary to zero and redistributed it to all the workers, it wouldn't increase workers salaries by much.

The CEO at my former hospital's salary was close to $2 million and he would get bonuses of around $400,000. Meanwhile, raises for staff were capped at 2% for several years and we were lucky to have ONE functioning thermometer on the floor...

I just don't get how an industry this old can be so .....I never knew how scrupulous healthcare industry can be on its workers. This site sure does alot of autosaves interrupting my messages.

I saw a news article about a group of doctors who have started their own surgery center and they post their prices online for various procedures. They are far below what hospitals charge. The report discussed the primary hospital where most of them practice. This hospital has 18 executives with an average salary in excess of $400K each, and this was in a midwestern state with relatively low RN pay.

I once worked in the market where this hospital is located, and I had nursing school clinicals on their ortho floor. When the company that currently owns the hospital took over, one of the first things they did was lay off 10-15 percent of the nursing and support staffs.
