Cold Contacts - Anyone tried it?

Published

I have been trying to get on an OB unit for a few months now as I am in an NP program and wish to focus on Women's Health. No luck so far but just wondered what you peeps thought about cold contacts to physicians offices? I have thought about typing up a cover letter stating my goals and attaching my resume and just taking it around to OB offices in the hopes of getting some feedback to a possible position. I know typically offices hire LPNs for clinic positions but do you think they would consider an RN with the hopes of staying on as a WHNP?

Any thoughts and advice is GREATLY appreciated. If anyone has attempted this with any luck, please include key points that you feel was helpful.

TIA - Jess

I would imagine they might not want to hire/train an RN who is guaranteed to leave the position shortly. If I were you, I wouldn't tell employers you are in an NP program.

I'm referring to contacting OB offices in the hopes that I could stay on as a WHNP.
