Code 15?

Has anyone ever heard of a code 15 at there hospitals?

Every facility has different means of identifying certain situations. Code alerts can be colors - code blue for cardiac arrest, code red for fire, etc., they can be numbers, they can be letters of the alphabet ... whatever.

The only way to know what Code 15 signifies at your hospital will be to ask. If you work there, this is information that you should have available to you.

We don't have codes by numbers, but rather colors and names. However, it might be different in your facility; there must be an education department who can advise you, or a policy/procedure manual that states it.

One hospital I contracted at in Florida had a "Code Dorothy". It meant a tornado heading in the direction of the hospital! Fortunately the closest one came while I was there was several miles to one side of us.

I agree that you should ask someone what code 15 is. It may be something completely different depending on the facility. At our place we don't have one of those. All of ours are colors or acronyms. Red - fire, black - power outage/cyberterrorism, pink - infant abduction, BOLO - missing person, etc. I'd just ask.

Someone once posted that their place had a code Elvis for a missing person. :rotfl:
