Hello Everyone. My first post! I've searched many threads and haven't found the answer, so please help me a bit...I'm prenursing at BMCC. Cochran School of Nursing tells me they have "applied for accreditation" but aren't accredited...yet they can award an Associates Degree in Applied Science. Not accredited worries me but they say if you pass the exam you are a nurse no matter where you go to nursing school. What do you think? Thanks...by the way, just reading your posts has been so helpful to me...

I know someone who graduated from Cochran. She went on to Mercy to complete her BSN and will be graduating from NP school this Dec. She has never mentioned having a problem getting a job or into another program as a result of being a Cochran graduate.

I'll be attending Cochran in the fall semester so I too was worried and did some research. The most important thing is that the school is accredited with your state and Cochran is.
If you have further issues or worries just simply look at job postings for nurses and you will see that the hospital require that you possess a RN license they do not require that you attend a school that has NLN accredition.
Thank you both for responding...that makes me feel a bit better...good luck to you, Wsmith16...I hope I can hear more from you about how you like the program (as you get into the classes more).

I'm starting Cochran this Sept. I call the State board 2 to 3 months ago. The school is accredited by the State and you won't have any problems finding work in New York, or Transferring your license to another state.
