COC Fall 2019 Application

Published

Hello. I created this forum for those that are applying to COC's Nursing program for the Fall 2019 application period so that we could all update each other. Have any of you applied yet? I submitted my application a while ago but my HS diploma didn't show up in the email that had my Online RN Application. Is anyone else having this same issue?

Drum roll please...I just got my status update.

I was issued a low cut score offer, remediation plan. Complete two to three classes, of the schools choice, with in a year with a B or better. Yay for second chances.

Good news is I have more time to study for the TEAS now instead of taking it this Friday, as ECC's is at the end of this month.

Whattttt?! How did your cut not make it here ? But at el Camino? I mean that’s good though! (Kinda) because you have all the time to study!

I didnt know cut cut scores were this early on

From what I understand not all schools use a cut score, ECC being that exception. At COC; first the scholastic eligibility check, then Chancellor cut scores are determined, and after that the TEAS invitation is given.

This does kind of blow my mind as going into this I thought ECC to be more competitive than COC. This is my first time applying for nursing school so this is all new to me.

I actually live between ECC and SMC! The commute out to COC is not too bad in the morning, however, traveling to the west-side is a nightmare from Santa Clarita. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get my education. I am a SM native and the city has become so hectic I did not even consider their program. As you said it IS a headache.

Oh that’s perfect !! I live in the valley so I’m kinda surrounded for whoever takes me lol. I’ll go to whoever too! BUT Santa Monica has their own special entrance exam and crap is it hard ? I got 113 and you need 114 to be considered ?so I skipped lol

I have heard that there is a collaboration of people trying to streamline the nursing school applications across the colleges. Some institutions are on board, but some are not, mostly the four year universities. It is ridiculous that each college has different qualifications you must meet in order to be eligible. I think COC has become so popular because they are the only college in the area that does not subscribe to a recency agreement. Most colleges will not take prerequisites that are more that five years old.

Is anyone brave enough to call and find out when acceptances go out I’m so nervous ?

I'm anxious to hear back as well. I'm pretty sure I will be turning down my spot if I am accepted. I am pretty confident in my decision to pursue another program.

Hi ladies!

Has anyone heard from the program? I will be applying in the winter for the LVN-RN program. If anyone has been accepted have they given you a schedule (hours you’ll have to attend) yet?
