CNA wanting to become a nursing student

Published

I was a CNA for 2 years, I took Phlebotomy and wanting to become a nurse. The only thing stopping me was when I was working as a CNA, there was a patient fall incident. It was considered negligence and saying Not Hirable. Been 3 years now, and I'm searching to find out if this will stop me from becoming a nurse. What can I do to fix the issue? Thank You

Hi CottonVanilla, welcome to AN! Can you clarify, please? Were you simply not eligible for rehire at the facility where you worked, or was there some kind of backlash outside the facility? Were you held liable for the negligence? I think the members here just need a little more info in order to provide advice.

I was doing my CNA walk checking on patients. There was a high fall risk patient, so, we had bed alarm on. The RN who was in charge of that patient was in there after me. 5 minutes later, the patient was on the floor. We did incident report. After that, I had to leave. Next thing I knew I had a “Not Hirable” on Nurse Aide Registry.
