CNA true Salary?

Published

Hi I am looking into becoming a CNA. I would like to just go to school to become an LPN but where I am currently living (Fort Irwin, CA - Middle of no where!) and I also have a 3 year old that becoming a CNA would work better schedule wise. My husband is currently in the army but will be getting out in a couple years and we want to move back to Colorado where I am from. I am a stay at home mom now but before I became a mom I went to school for medical billing and coding and loved working in the medical field just want something more exciting! I'm looking into CNA so that when my husband does get out I will have experience and be ready to go back to work with a good paying job and then when we get to Colorado I'll have more options to start working on my LPN or RN. If we didn't live so far from the college here at Fort Irwin, I would just go ahead and start my LPN! So frustrating here. But my question is what did you make hourly when you first started out as a CNA?

I got my CNA license in 03 in FL. starting @ $10 an hour. We all know in the south the pay is low.

Specializes in Critical Care.

I started in a LTC and they started at 8/hr. with a 50c shift dif. I worked 2nd shift so I received 8.5 and that was with little experience. I live in South Eastern TN and the avg pay is very low. The hospitals pay around 10-12 for PCT here. It depends where you live and how much experience you have :)
