CNA seeks Advice LVN school / Private or CC

Published

I've been a CNA for five years working at a psych unit and wanted to challenge the LVN boards. Well turned out that my experience doesn't qualify for challenging the boards in CA. So back to another option. I recently taken the TABE test at La puente hacienda adult school for the lvn july 2014 program and was told I didn't pass reading comp.

Now i'm here debating if i should apply at a private school or apply for lvn at a CC.

I was also thinking of trying again at the same adult school, but not too sure.

The thing is most CC schools require a pre req and i've learned my lesson on focusing on one school. i see applying at many schools is the only way to get into at least one.

summer and fall is near and i dont want to waste too much time.

now i do receive unemployment and make low income so i was wondering besides WIA, are their other programs available?

You have to complete an accredited LVN program to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam. A CNA and LPN are not even close to the same thing. There is a lot that goes into being a nurse whether it is a LPN or RN. You are going to have to take some kind of entrance exam wherever you go. It could be the Teas or Hesi. You need to be proficient in these areas to be able to tackle nursing school so maybe some prereqs would not be a bad thing for you.
