Your best bet would be to call wherever it is you want to take the CNA course at (community college/long term care facility) and ask them.

CNAs have certificates, not licenses.
In my state of residence (Texas), only a ninth grade education and a clean background check are required for admission into a CNA training program.

it all depends on what state you live in. here in florida it is actually a state of fl license, that you are issued by the board of nursing. every state has different regulations. florida is highly regulated when it comes to professional licenses, due to the amount of fraud we have in the state and alot of that fraud is based on the amount of illegal immigration we have here. they do extensive background checks, especially if you haven't lived here for the past 3 years, again...that's due to the illegal immigration issue. you also have to be at least 18 and have your high school diploma or ged. search for cna training in your area and they will let you know what the requirements are.
good luck!

hey wait a minute... your in texas... we do have licenses... I have one. without this card (wallet sized with my name and registry number ) I can't work. I have been told by jcaho people to have it on my person at alll times while in hospital working. I think that's a license, my certificates I can leave at home as they are just to show personal acheivment. just my two cents...

Not required in FL but like some others here have said, check with where you plan to attend the nursing assistant program. Good luck :wink2:
