CNA Programs in San Fernando Valley

Have you inquired at any of the long term care facilities to find out if they offer free training? I would get out a phone book and go down the list and call. All they can do is tell you they don't offer it or the next class is full. Also check with the community colleges. I believe Valley, Pierce, or Mission offer the CNA course in their community program (for the public).

Pierce has a nursing program (I'm currently working on my prereqs) but not a CNA program.

Yea, I found a list online of places that supposedly did. But everyone I called either didn't do it anymore, or never has, or only lets schools come and practice.

North Valley occupational center has a $300.00. Also Burbank Adult school has a $95.00 class. Look into that.

I am out in your area. There are some options.

1. The Jewish home for the Aged in Reseda and Tarzana started a nursing program (I think CNA and a LVN program) on their site. You may want to talk to them about their program.

2. If you are out of work, go to the local EDD/One Stop facility. I know there is one on Vanowen between Desoto and Canoga on the so. side of the street..about a block west of Desoto. Go to there orientation. They may have training funds available for people to get training to go back to work. You would have to talk to a specialist on the training (and if the funds are available) you would have to give specifics as to why you want the training, what you hope to get out of the program, what you will do with the training when you finish, what school you would like to attend. This specific type of program must use 'authorized' vendors; so you will have to work with them to find a facility. However, this kind of program takes a little time to get things rolling.

3. I took my CNA with Moorpark college. The cost was minimal. I think there is a CNA program at LA Valley. I don't know if the adult school across from Pierce still has their program. I, also, don't know if Pierce has a CNA proigram.

4. I think the Red Cross offers a CNA course but it will be more costly than a jr college or adult school.

All of these programs will get you to your goal. In the mean time, if you need employment, you could work as a caretaker. There is such a need. There are agencies that will place you in a home part time or full time..usually you are working with seniors. The pay is $8-10 an hour +/- :redpinkhe

You should try and check out Trinity School of Nursing in Canoga Park and Ventura! They have Full Time CNA classes and weekend classes, as well. Their full time class is only 5 weeks and 3 months for the weekend Sat/Sun class.

Fees are competitive and they have quality training. They really prepare you for nursing. Here is their website:

I just got off the phone with Trinity.....It's alot cheaper than PCMI in Thousand Oaks...and they are offering their first weekend class in Ventura next month.

I believe I'll be going with this institution.

i took mine at North Valley Occupational Center.. i think its in mission hills.. back then wayyy back then costed me about 500 bucks. i believe they too offer an LVN program. hope that helps.
