Phone Interview Questions?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi all! N00b, here.

So I have a phone interview coming up next week for a PCT job at a BayCare hospital here in Florida. Funny thing is, I've already had the in-person interview with the charge nurse. It went really well and she made it (kinda) clear that she's interested in hiring me. Two days later, I get an email from a BayCare recruiter saying she (the recruiter) wants to do a 30 minute phone interview and to provide email addresses for all of my references so that they can start the reference verification process.

I don't think I've ever had a phone interview before. Can anyone give any insight as to what questions the recruiter might ask me? Especially since I've already had my in-person interview with my would-be boss. Thanks in advance!

Well, I am sure the recruiter had spoken to the charge nurse about you, and specifics of your in-person interview. So, I guess expect to be talking about it a bit. I am sure the recruiter may ask you similar questions you had been asked during your in-person interview. However, he/she may ask you more in-depth specific questions that pertain to your future position at that hospital. Also, be prepared to answer scenario based questions. I know recruiters love those!

Good luck!

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time out to reply. I'm gonna hope there aren't any scenario questions. Lol. I'm not too fond of those.:wacky:

Just wanted to give an update in this forum (I actally have a thread about this in the PCT forum as well).

My phone interview went really well. Nothing I wasn't prepared for. In fact, pretty sure I was over prepared for it. Lasted about 24 minutes and was very friendly and mostly conversational. I did get the "why do you want to work for us?" question. I also got the "tell me about a time where you were in a really stressful situation and you had to think and act fast?" question as well as the "what do you think makes you a good candidate for this position" question. My answers were pretty long so I'm not sure that she asked everything she'd intended to.

At the end, she said she'd contact the hiring manager (whom I'd already interviewed with in person) to see if she wanted to extend an offer to me. I then sent the recruiter a 'thank you' email and the next morning she called me with an offer of employment, which I accepted. I've filled out all of the electronic paperwork for the on-boarding process, have my health screening next week and now I just sit and wait for them to get back to me regarding my background check and all of that stuff. Kinda nervous about that. I don't have any criminal activity or anything sketchy like that but I don't have the best credit and having read the paperwork, it looks like they do a credit check. I'll have to call on Monday and ask.

Congratulations on getting the job!!! As far as the background check, do not stress too much about it! You can start celebrating!!!!

@FutureNurseInfo Thanks. Fingers crossed, everything will go smoothly :)
